Not skiing - but still fun September 15, 2008 I'm an expert skiier of many years and was really looking forward to this game. Figured i could hone my skills when off piste, but No. Even with the Wii balance board, this doesn't come close to actually skiing. The controls are way to off kilter for what you actually do when skiing. If you are looking for a ski simulator experience, look elsewhere. However, this game is still fun, especially if you just use the Nunchuk and skip the balance board. So i still gave it 3 stars. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it is fun. But not the same as skiing.
We Ski: 2 Generations September 6, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My son and I get very different things out of this game. My son is a 11 year-old competitive gamer and he enjoys "beating the game" by doing all the activities and winning all the races. I am getting something different from the game. I am enjoying taking my time, seeing all the sights (the scenery in the game is actually quite beautiful), and relaxing. I have a very stressful job, and after a frustrating day, I can get on my balance board "ski" around and I can feel my blood pressure go down immediately.
Very disappointed wtih this game. September 5, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game left a lot to be desired. I have skied for 25 years and this board is nothing like skiing. Yet, the skiing games that ship with the Wii board are wonderful and account for every way your body may move. This one only seems to account for side-to-side movement.
This was a real disappointment. Stick with the ski games that come with the Wii Fit. They are a lot of fun.
It's Okay August 31, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The game is too talky. I want simple instructions and then go, but his one talks too much. Too much to read, too many characters to talk to, it's okay, just not great.
Wii Ski Is Great Fun For The Family August 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We have been playing Wii ski for a week and our family is having a lot of fun with it. I also give the game high marks for the younger players. My son is 7 and is having a blast playing - and seems to navigate all of the slopes pretty well. I particularly like the games where he has to find different children on the slopes. He is playing and also having to use his memory and focus skills at the same time.
I would have rated it higher if the balance board worked even reasonably well, but it doesn't. I almost think they shouldn't market it this way in the first place. I probably would have been happier with the game overall if I wasn't so disappointed in the balance board tie in, but we did buy it because we have Wii Fit and thought we'd get the same experience. We were wrong.
