I bought the game for my husband because he plays the PC version. I got it for Wii so we could play more easily with 2 people. When we started playing the Wii version, the controls are too tricky and it has a delayed reaction. We don't really play the game now because the controls are too hard to get used to.

PES 2008 for the Wii is definitely one of the best soccer games you'll find around. The controls and game play are both solid, and while the graphics aren't anything to brag about they're still good enough to not detract from the game. You move people around by telling them where to go with the Wii-mote's A and B buttons, which allows you to move anyone on the field, as opposed to just one person like in standard soccer games. This allows for much more planning ahead, which leads to things such as offside traps and the likes. There are different modes to play in, like Champions Road and International Mode (which has different modes in itself), which leads to a lot of game play. The game can get boring if you play it too much; I've done so myself and actually haven't played in a while. Another thing I don't really like is how you can't control your shots; the power and everything is determined by how good the player actually is at shooting, so all you have to do is shake your nunchuck. Regardless, this is a good game that I recommend buying if you're out there looking for a soccer game to buy for the Wii.

One of the best game software my kids have seen. Usually they get bored with any game software within 10 days of playing. But, I see the same enthusiasm even after weeks of play.
I am thinking this might even help with their real field game - while passing the ball, Strategizing etc.

I already had Winning Eleven 9 for PS2 and I have to say the Wii version is a great improvement. The controls really are a lot of fun and give you a lot of control. The basic look and feel of the game are the same and anything that has changed I would say has been an improvement. I have component cables for my HD wide-screen TV so the game gives me full 480p wide-screen (unlike the PS2 WE9 which had no wide-screen) which looks great. They took out all those different viewing options which looked cool but were totally impractical (I always used the view that was pulled out the farthest so I could see everything that was happening) and replaced it with 2 views, and I think that was a good choice.
I wish I could have rated this 4 1/2 stars as I have a couple of minor complaints. The main one is that on defense I wish I could directly control a player rather than the sort of "manager" role you play of just instructing everyone how to behave. Sometimes the player with the ball takes off and I want to grab a player and chase him but I have to figure out another way to get the computer-controlled guys to go after him. I wish the American MLS league was included (where's Beckham!?). My last complaint is not really the game's fault - each time I have tried to play an online game there hasn't been anyone available to play against.
Overall, this game is great. Just complicated enough to give you a lot of control but not too much that it isn't fun. Highly recommended.
New way of playing Soccer June 19, 2008

All my friends are video game Soccer lovers, but I'm the only one with the Wii console, they got PSP II an X box 360 consoles.
It was difficult at the beginning, an all of them we're complaining about the game, but after a few hours all of us could get the big dimension of it.
As always Wii is more focused in the way you play over the graphics and the game can also improve in the direction of shooting, but besides that is a entertainment game with a new way of playing.
