4 out of 5 stars Great little case for the money   October 17, 2007
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

After seeing one of the other reviewers say they had actually gotten the case with two sleeves for advance games and were using them for another twelve DS games I decided to go for this case. Ignore the review that was negative for it not holding a DS. The features say it's not intended for it.

As for the reviewer who said the pockets rip easily, I both agree and disagree. There was some debris from being shipped in one of the advance pockets, and I slid my finger in to get it out and it ripped along the bottom, as did one of the other pockets on the same sleeve, upon trying to see if it would happen again. However, a third pocket took my rumble pak just fine without ripping. Simple solution: Don't stick your fingers in the pockets and it should be okay. It seems like a little super glue would fix it anyway.

The DS pockets are a little snug, but it is nowhere near difficult to get the games out. The case seems like it'd be hard to close with all the pockets loaded up with their intended items (even if only one advance sleeve was filled). However, I don't own many advance games, and there are advance carrying cases available, so for me, this is moot.

The case is thinner than three of the cases that came with the games. Might be the same as just two of them, but I haven't tested this.

The inside is lined with felt. Most of the outside is aluminum, with the exception of the corners, which are metallic plastic. I feel that these might crack if you dropped it, but the plastic doesn't seem brittle enough to shatter. The sleeves themselves are made out of thicker vinyl than I was expecting, but this is a bonus. I would guess perhaps 8 or 9 gauge?

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase, and should I ever accumulate more than 24 DS games, I would absolutely buy another one, however, it gets a four star rating due to the lack of durability on the pocket seams, even if they would be an easy fix.

So, I don't own this case that stores DS games only, I was thinking of buying it until I read he reviews. My son and I saw this the other night while searching for new games for his DS Lite. I thought it was expensive and that he didn't need it just yet. Then I see it at EB Games today for $30.00!! So I come back here and read the reviews and see people saying that it's a waste of $7.00?? But it's listed here on sale for $14.99. Sooo, how much should this case really be? After reading these reviews about the case falling apart, I'm probably not going to buy it. I'll continue to look for another case for his games.

ADVICE FOR ANYONE LOOKING AT THIS ITEM..My son has a case that came with the DS Lite travel kit, which sells here on Amazon for 13.99 plus free shipping. This case is excellent, it hold 9 DS lite games (2 in each rubber slot)plus 3 GBA games and it comes with an extra insert that you can switch out if you would rather carry more gba games. Also, there is a case in this kit that holds the DS lite system as well as the cartridge case plus more DS games. Based on the reviews here, I would spend your money on the Travel case, it's cheaper and comes with a lot more, even if you don't need the other items..it's worth it! I wish I could find just the game cartridge carrying case that comes with this kit because I really don't need another set of all the accessories.
Hope this is helpful.

4 out of 5 stars Clarification   June 2, 2007

Its stated above but one more time, this case is for storing DS and GBA games only. If you are looking for a case to hold your DS Lite Intec also markets a case of this same design for that purpose.
This Case:
2 sleeves for DS games holding 6 each (12 total)
1 sleeve for GBA games holding 3

DS Lite Case:
Holds DS Lite in bottom half of case, has a ribbon built into the inside that sticks out from under the DS so you don't have to flip the case to get it out, simply pull the ribbon and the DS rises up. It is a very snug fit.
In the top half it has webbing sticked into the form of 2 pockets that can comfortably hold 3 DS games or 1 GBA game in each (may hold a 4th game in each but its really tight.

The case snaps firmly and has a long strap that you hand either hold onto or wear around your neck as "Geek Bling" like my friends and I sometimes do. For the purposes of impacts and taking heavy weight placed on it, it is a sturdy metal design that does a excellent job protecting your system from most normal dangers that may befall it (though dropping your DS is never advised, regardless of the fact it seems to be able to take it).

I have two of the DS Lite model cases (one holds my DS Lite and alot of my multiplayer games, and the other exclusively for the extra games) but the reason for that is mostly due to a pair of problems the design has. The rings by which the strap attaches to the main case can come loose after a bit or from too much jostling and can eventually snap off. This has happened to both. The second has to do with the hinge (which may or may not effect this model. Sometimes when closing the case the hinge will "stick". This is fixed simply by lifting the lid a little to reposition it on the hinge and closing it again. If forced the hinge can and will bend, causing it to come apart into two halves. A friends brother caused this to happen to one of my cases.

In short, there are two models of this case. The one above to hold games for the DS and GBA /only/ and another (which can probably also be found here on Amazon) for holding a DS Lite and considerably less games. They are good for protecting your hardware, but be aware of potential problems with the hinge and strap.

4 out of 5 stars Misleading title, but great case for DS *games*!   April 7, 2007
Don't be mislead by the title, this is for holding DS GAMES, not the system itself (just look at the picture). It officially holds 12 DS games and three GBA games, but mine came with two sleeves for GBA games (which wouldn't fit if you tried to fit them all because it would be too thick). However, you can jam two DS games in each of the GBA holders (side-by-side) -- which means I have a total of *24* DS games in this case!

As others have mentioned, it's a very tight fit, at least initially. I'm sure the compartments will stretch out a bit later. For right now I have to push up from the bottom to get each game out, but that's okay for me. I know they won't fall out on their own, and that's important. The case is very strong, and looks nice. Perfect for what I was looking for. If you want a case to hold games, it's great -- ignore the bad reviews from people hoping to hold the system.

1 out of 5 stars Worthless item   March 8, 2007

This case is not designed to hold the DS Lite itself. It consists of a spiral clip-lock with plastic pages that have pockets designed to hold the DS cartridges and GBA cartridges. However, the pockets are not big enough to fit the cartridges in. So it was basically a waste of $7.
