NOT AT ALL LIKE THE PICTURE OR DESCRIPTION September 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First, I got this sent to me in pink and it had nubby footprints on it. Then, I replaced the order (we can't have pink at my house ~ I have a boy and my girls are anti-pink). I even spoke to MadCatz and the gentleman there said they didn't have nubby footprints on any of their designs, but they did have nubby all-over clear so I'm not sure how the photo of a clear smooth surface translates to a nubby foot-printed colored Wii board cover. We can live with the blue; however, my kids don't like the nubs and I'm not too happy that the description and photo do not match the item that arrives. The photo on the box looks like the photo at Amazon, but the item inside is anything but! This kind of problem is why I prefer to shop for some items in person; however, none of our local stores carry Wii board covers so I was stuck.
Amazon needs to write in their description that the item will ship in assorted colors and have nubby footprints and does not match the photo shown or on the box from MadCatz. Somehow, I think MadCatz has a product their techie doesn't know about and is putting them into the box for a clear, smooth silicone cover!
All I can say, the item fits snug and appears that it will be a safe surface, but it sure isn't what I ordered!
It comes in blue, not the clear silicone cover as shown. September 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not sure if Amazon.com make a mistake or not. When I order it, I am expecting to receive a "clear" color silicone cover. When the item did arrived, the cover is in blue color. It is made by MadCatz with the exact picture Amazon.com has on the package. But the silicone cover is in BLUE. I have email Amazon.com to check if I am indeed receiving the correct product. If so, why do I not have a choice in selecting the color? Pending on their investigation... Buyer beware, it might comes in a different color than you see.
Not tacky enough September 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I guess I was envisioning something more like the silicone covers for the wii-mote. Ours had had a few cases where someone came in with dirty feet and got the balance board dirty (hard to clean with the texture). That is no longer a problem with the cover. The cover is nice for things like plank (but my daughter thinks it slips and makes plank harder). There are certainly some activities where it does tend to slip. For example, on downward facing dog, there is a significant horizontal force and the cover has a tendency to creep in that direction. I think overall, I like having the cover, but if it were just a little bit more sticky (and maybe a bit thicker), then it would be great.
Wii Protective Silicone Cover September 12, 2008 I'm very happy with the product. It fits perfectly and it feels great for bare feet.
Does what it's supposed to September 4, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When you handle the cover, it feels like a quality product. The silicone is thick and sturdy and I didn't have any fear of it tearing. I really don't think it COULD tear (as some people said) unless you were really stretching it, which isn't necessary. There's very little stretching needed to get it onto the balance board. It was very simple.
I do like that it keeps the balance board clean and free from scuffs, but as other posters have said, it does tend to collect hair. Someone commented to one reviewer that they should vacuum more. Well, I vacuum every day but with a 100lb golden retriever, there's hair everywhere all the time even with daily vacuuming, and this cover does tend to collect it. Simple fix is keeping it up off the floor when not in use. It does wipe clean with a damp cloth very easily. Still worth the money, in my opinion.
My only gripe is that the little bumps on the surface tend to hurt my feet after long sessions. It does help me find where my feet need to be without looking down, but that's only a minor plus. They should have made the texture a little smaller so as not to hurt sensitive feet. Overall though, recommended if you like to keep your balance board scratch and dirt free.
