5 out of 5 stars Any Pokemon fan will LOVE this game!   March 8, 2008

If you are a new Pokemon player, or a veteran, you will love this. Much like the rest of the series, you get the standard Pokemon experience.
But what else?
You also get the advanced ability to trade via Wi-Fi, you can import your old Pokemon from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. Also this game is HUGE! They have finally done it, added the National Dex! (Though they had it in Emerald it wasn't very good) Every single Pokemon has a space in this new Dex. The boring look of the old Pokemon games is gone, now a new true 3D look has been brought on the game. The angled birds eye view is much more detailed and comfortable to look at.
TONS of legendary Pokemon populate the land of Sinnoh, get the game and get them all!

I'm a college student, and even I absolutely loved the game. It's addicting, and it's a nice way to break away from homework and such.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Twist on an Old Classic   March 4, 2008

The Pokemon games have always been fun to me, but this version takes the cake. Brand new Pokemon, new attacks, better battles, Pokemon Diamond has it all. It doesn't have that "aw, not another one" feel. I would recommend it to everyone who has a DS. You really should try this game.

3 out of 5 stars Addictive Fun   January 22, 2008

I bought this for my 9 year old son. Also bought the Pearl edition for my 7 year old daughter. They share a Nintendo DS and are constantly fighting to use it. Each session has to be time-limited, and they act like they're going through withdrawls when they are not playing. But they have to "earn" playing time through chores and good behavior, which balances out all that fun.
They enjoy talking strategy and comparing the Pokemon they've caught or battled. They've also made it clear that they can trade their Pokemon with each other if they BOTH have a DS. Hmmm...

Anyway, if you don't mind your kids being addicted to a good, clean, non-violent video game (like we were), this appears to be the ultimate for now.

5 out of 5 stars Pokemon-You WILL catch them all again!   January 22, 2008

First of all, I've been playing Pokemon video games since their inception of Red/Blue/Yellow (back in the day), and this game is really no different for the overall concept. Catch Pokemon, raise them, form your team, catch more Pokemon, etc. Rinse, repeat. That is the worst thing about this game, is that it's virtually the SAME as it was during Pokemon Blue's debut. However, this would be my only complaint. The game is graphically superior to all other hand held Pokemon's to date. I find myself once again hooked to this deviously-titled game, and can't seem to put it down to play my other neglected DS games. My breakdown of this title is below:

Pros:
Pokemon!
Graphically beautiful
Sound quality is excellent
VERY addictive gameplay
New Pokemon to catch and train
New mini games to keep you occupied for days
Wireless functionality to battle your friends (and enemies)

Cons:
Same old, same old Pokemon you remember from it's earlier incarnations

I gave this game high marks (5 stars), as it might be the same old game in different clothing, but why change a good thing? If you like Pokemon, you'll definetely want to get either Diamond or Pearl for your DS. Well worth the wait, and definetely will strain your DS's battery.
