Saving the world...again! July 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The moment that I heard there was a new Pokemon game coming out, I decided to get it--after all, I've been a fan for quite a few years now. When I first played it, I knew immediately that it was worth my while.
Unfortunately, the graphics at first gave me a headache, since I was used to the 2D of my Game Boy Advance. Eventually, though, I got used to it--as a matter of fact, when I played Pokemon FireRed again after some time with Diamond, I found the older game's graphics to be somewhat disconcerting!
As for the storyline--it's the same old, same old. You get one of three starter Pokemon and go off to defeat the Gym Leaders and become the Champion while defeating an evil organization. Even so, the storyline doesn't seem so bad when you learn of the hundred-or-so new Pokemon and moves.
The music is just as good as before; the surfing theme is one of my favorites, taking away much of the boredom of surfing (because it is now much slower than before!).
One thing that I didn't particularly like was the Pokemon cries--they are very complicated and sophisticated, but comparing them even to the cries from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald makes you realize that they're much different, and that leads you to wonder: why would newer Pokemon sound so much different? I don't think that the cries should be equal to the regrettably cheap-sounding cries of Red/Blue/Yellow, but they simply sound almost unfamiliar!
All in all, taking into consideration every bit of this game, I still give it top marks--I might be prejudiced, given that I love Pokemon, but I believe that it's still a very good game.
The best game yet but is still lacking. July 9, 2008 I love Pokemon and I especially love this game. One thing that made me a bit sick was comparing the old 2D graphics of the previous games to the new 3D graphics. I believe they did a great job in the appearance of this game. I also love the trading in this game. All I really have to do is put a pokemon on offer in the GTS and overnight it might be traded. It's way better not to having to deal with the cords and the expenses just to trade. I also love that you can transfer Pokemon from your old games to Diamond and Pearl. It has made such a huge difference to have my old blazekin. I love the Pokeradar which can be a pain sometimes. The Pokeradar allows you to catch rare or even shiny pokemon. I caught a ditto and a miltank today. Even though there is a lot of things I like about this games there is a lot I dislike. Some places like the resort area have basically no purpose to the game. To get into the fancy masion you have to have 10 ribbon which mean absolutely nothing to get in. Ribbons cost way to much money and I don't see any purpose at all. I also hate that you can only catch about 150 out of however many pokemon there are in the pokedex in the game. There isn't really much you can do after you beat the elite 4. I find it really embarrassing that some of the legendaries aren't really all that great. Think about uxie, azelf, and mesprit they are really useless and are really annoying. Oh don't even get me started about Mesprit. Mesprit always runs away. How are you even suppose to catch it. The last thing that really puts down the game is that they don't really have a new story line and above that they have taken out team rocket and added a new rediculous team galactic. Don't get me wrong this is my favorite pokemon game but its like everything else lacking. My recommendation if you haven't bought this game but it now!
Matt's Pokemon Diamond Review June 23, 2008 This Pokemon game is the best I ever played. This game makes the Nintendo DS shine. It is really fun to battle wild Pokemon and catch them. The most exciting thing to do on this game is catch Diaga. You try to not let Team Galactica catch Diaga. I like battling the Gym Leaders to win a badge. If you like Pokemon you will love this game.
My daughter loves it May 26, 2008 This series just goes on and on. I wish they would end and I save some money. But this is what my kid wants. Oh well.
POKEMON DIAMOND May 18, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
THE GAME IS GREAT. OVER 100 NEW POKEMON IN THE GAME. I JUST BEAT THE GAME. I HAVE THE ACTION REPLAY SO IT MAKES THE GAME EASIER. I WALKED PASSED THE ELITE 4 AND ALL I HAD TO DO IS BEAT THE CHAMPION CYNTHIA. I HAVE GYM BAGES 1,2,3,4,5,6,8. NOW I JUST HAVE TO GET BADGE 7. THIS GAME IS BETTER THAN THE PAST POKEMON GAMES.
DS ONLY 4/5
WITH THE ACTION REPLAY 5/5
I LOVE THIS GAME
