 I get to keep my quarters!!! June 21, 2001
My youngest son insisted to him mom that this should be my gift for father's day. Being a sound and worldly adult I said I didn't care. Now that I have it I just smile and grin. I don't think I can count the number of quarters I spent on these games in my youth, in fact a coffie shop near the house has MS Pacman and Galaga and I spent quarters there with both of my boys. The games themselves are a joy but there are several weaknesses. The contols for the PACMAN games respond slowly (or maybe I'm just slower) and standard N64 Controler isn't easy for POLE POSITION. On the whole this is a great set of games invoking a great set of memories and most important fun I can have with my sons.

I Loved this game! My husband and I played it at a friend's house, and on the way home, we had to stop and buy it. It brings me back to the days of standing in the arcade playing pole position until my parents were completely out of quarters. I did find that it is helpful to reduce the screen size by going into the options part of the setup. I save my scores on a memory pack, so the screen comes back to the nicer smaller size whenever I turn it on. By making the screen smaller, I can see things like how many ships I have left and what level I'm on in Galaga. It doesn't lock you in for a long time at a stretch like many of our other games, but I find that I want to sit and play it for hours. My favorite thing about this game is that I finally found a game that I can beat my husband at! :)

I got this game for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. I grew up on Pole Position and Pac-Man, so having the home version is awesome. Almost of the details are exactly the same, except for on Dig Dug, where the entire screen doesn't quite fit on your TV. But I haven't found that to be a problem, you can turn screen scroll on so it scrolls if you're missing something on the bottom row or above ground... You can also tinker with lives and stuff (and the screen scroll) with the "dipswitches", something you might miss if you don't read the instruction manual because you already know how to play the games (hit start on the individual game screens before you start playing the game). Finally, if you have a controller pack, you can save your high scores, which is great. Pole Position, Dig Dug, Pac Man, and Galaga are absolutely awesome; although Ms. Pac Man I feel is a tad redundant, it's still great to put on the game, and Galaxian's not bad... Hands down, this is one of the best games for N64, and it's really addicting; these games are classics for a reason. As for the control issues, I've found that the joystick isn't good for Pac Man and Dig Dug, but the D-pad (you can use it too) works great, so I really have no complaints whatsoever about this game, except for I miss Missile Command, which I suppose wasn't Namco... Buy the game, you'll be glad you did!

"Namco Museum 64" is almost a flawless game for what it is. It's a collection of some of the most popular arcade games ever. It has Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Pole Position, and Dig Dug. Everybody is familiar with the classic Pac-Man games, Galaga and Galaxian are space shooting games where the bugs, or aliens, fly down at you, Pole Position was one of the first great racing games ever made, and Dig Dug is a fun underground adventure where you have to kill subterranian monsters. In all the games you can play 1 or 2 players. The graphics in all the games are 100% identical to the arcade games, and the control is perfect in all the games. Not to mention that these games are just as fun now as they were almost 20 years ago.All my life I've been playing all these games in the arcades except for Galaxian and I have to say that the games in "Namco Museum 64" are almost exactly like the blockbuster arcade versions of these games. My only complaints are that it would've been great if the super fast version of Ms. Pac-Man could've been included as an option, and that some of the sounds of the games aren't exactly like the arcade versions. There's also a little bit of scrolling involved in Dig Dug because the whole game screen doesn't fit on the television, and the Pac-Man cinemas aren't quite exact replicas. But these flaws don't take much away from "Namco Museum 64." If you've ever like playing these games in the arcades or if you want to get a game for nostalgic reasons, I definitely recommend getting "Namco Museum 64," it's one of the best buys ever in the video game industry.

i was super excited by this collection of games, and i really wish i could give it 4 or 5 stars, but i can't. the two pac mans are great, but the controls are maddeningly difficult. Glaga and Glaxian are basically similar and the controls are ridiculous.....simply innefficient. DIG DUG and Pole Position are fine, but again the controls leave much to be desired, creating a level of difficulty that is simply too high to provide a fun challenge. All of that aside, these games are pretty cool, and pretty addictive. For FUN, i give it 5 STARS, for CONTROLS, i only give 3 STARS. figure out that average, and then go buy the game anyway..... it's a lot of fun and nostalgia.
