Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection July 16, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter had Zoo Tycoon (1 & 2) but the complete collection includes the dinosaur pak as well. She is 9-1/2 and thoroughly enjoys the game. Her friends come over to play and they spend hours designing the zoo grounds, watching animals adapt and multiply. They enjoy the "natural evolution" of the animals as they add attractions. The game installed easily over the former versions within minutes and was easy to learn with excellent on-screen tutorials. I'm not a computer game or video game enthusiast but found myself delightfully engaged! Great game that teaches thinking and planning skills - and is just darn fun!
I just wish the CD requirement wasn't there! July 9, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
So far, the only problem I have with this game is that Microsoft requires you to have the CD(s) physically in the drive(s) while you're playing it, even if you did a full install. I'm lucky I already had two disk drives; it wouldn't go when I tried to play with just the blue (main?) disk in my CD drive. I had to put the green (secondary?) disk in my DVD drive. If my experience is the same for everyone, someone with only one disk drive would be screwed!
According to Microsoft's support site, all the Zoo Tycoon versions require that you have the CD(s) in your drive(s) during play, as do many other Microsoft games. I know why they require it (piracy), and considering all the other great things about this game, it's probably not that big a deal. Call me a whiner! It just annoys me that I have to keep taking the CDs in and out all the time. Besides, can you say scratches and pings in the disks? I hate not being able to keep my program CDs pristine in their pockets after installation.
Anyway, the CD requirement is my big beef. If you don't have two drives in your PC, don't get this game till you do -- you probably won't be able to play it without the second drive!
Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection June 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't know any children that don't like this game. I must let you know that they've all been girls though. I would think boys at the same age or youger would like it also as a lot of animal/zoo keepers are male, like Steve Irwin. I even played it and let all the Tigers free. They bit off the heads of some zoo visitors. Oops. my bad. It's not too graphic though, so young kids can play it. Highly recommend complete collection because the kids will hound you for all the separate parts that can go to this game, so it's cheaper to just buy this one now.
Great time killer, loads of fun! May 19, 2007 Though many label it as a kids game, I am 29 years old and I enjoy playing it on my free time. Just trying to create the perfect zoo and solve the problems you face is a great stress buster! Plus its a great game to share with all the family.
Absorbing and Entertaining May 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is addictive! While confusing at first, once the system has been learned, this game will take over your life as you mix and match regular zoo animals, endangered species, dinosaurs, and marine life.
