A worthy remake, but compared to RE4, it's absolute junk. February 21, 2007 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
My first jaunt into the world of Resident Evil was the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4. That game was creepy, intense, and downright amazing. It made many strides in the world of survival horror games, and set the mark for action games to come. This game, a remake of the PlayStation original, looks absolutely fantastic. The use of prerendering and lighting all sets a great tone. However, the gameplay is so archaic, it's disturbing. Pressing up on the control stick makes your character run forward - no matter what direction he/she is facing. Zombies are near impossible to kill without completely depleting ammunition (which is very hard to find) or taking several hits in a futile attempt to take them down with a knife. The fixed camera angles are atrocious at times, and it just doesn't feel right after playing such an awesome game as RE4. If you have a special place in your heart for the original Resident Evil, or you are willing to put up with several horrible issues that were fully addressed in RE4, I'd suggest giving this game a chance. For everyone else, there's not much to see here but a hopelessly outdated control scheme and a bunch of cheap scares. Try RE4 instead.
Biohazard / R.E. December 23, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
having all the RE games, this was trully a new touch and an introduction to the RE world - espcially wit the zombies running. things seem similiar to the RE 1 but there are many differences. it is a good game to play and not a waste of money - oh well, with my biased view, havin all RE games, LOL. it was awesome to see the zombies runnin for the first time, cant wait for Biohazard 5. gota be gooooood. RE 4 was nice with the villagers and all that...

IF YOU LIKE SCARY, YOU'LL LIKE RESIDENT EVIL
RE, I swear, is the scariest game I have ever experienced. It is a very graphic, yet pleasurably frightening survival-horror, fitted especially for the Nintendo GameCube and PS2 systems. It takes place in Racoon City, where numerous reports took place about familys acroos the countryside being victims of flesh-eating zombies. You are either Chris Redfeild, or Jill Valentine. Investigate the zombie invested mansion at the center of Racoon City, and discover things that were not meant to be seen by human eyes... best played with the lights turned off!
LIVE THE NIGHTMARE IN YOUR OWN BEDROOM!
This game includes the following frightenening positives:
*100% Magnificent Graphics. *Game Controls are easy to follow. *Oustanding special effects and character designing. *Tons of blood and gore, and an incredible amount of suspense. *Special features and unique game settings.
*JUST THE BEST DARN VIDEO GAME EVER CREATED!

The Scariest Game ever Made!!!! October 4, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I like the RE games and this is one of my favorites. If you think you don't need you old PSone version, think again! this game is like playing a new sequal to the RE games. I actually think that this is the scariest game ever made for so many reasons. You never know what to expect! because this game is so realistic, Hunters can literally jump from the 2nd story of the East hallway (where one of the stair cases are at) and attack you from the 1st story. If you see a Zombie laying on the floor doesn't mean it's dead (unless you decapitate it or burn it!) because 5-10 minutes later it will get up again and they can run (you heard me!) and slash you or attack you by eating. They can once in a while enter rooms when you least expect it. Zombies can be in the bathroom and when other ones are breaking in, you can see the door slam and a zombie from the bathroom (if you didn't burn it or decapitate it) will run after you. This is a very well designed game and I would highly recommend you to get it. Even if you don't like the Gamecube, it's a great game to make you get one.
