5 out of 5 stars I'm I happy I bought this   November 10, 2007
I have friend who have purchased the newer slim version and believe me it can't be compared. The original system feels so much more sturdy and fits my hands way better. Absolutely love my PSP. Listen to music, watch movies, play games and browse the web while on the road, what more could you ask from a gaming system.

5 out of 5 stars PSP is Great!   October 30, 2007
(This review is for the original model PSP, NOT the NEW PSP SLIM)

I travel a lot over long distances. My PSP is always in my travel bag for all the spare time I have waiting on flights, traffic, clients, etc.

The best thing about the PSP over other portable game systems is that it does more then gaming. It is a music player, Internet browser, photo storage, movie theater, and news reader all built into one device. And it performs all those jobs very well! The Memory Stick DUO slot allows you to take so much with you on-the-go. Right now I am using a 2GB Pro Duo card and it has about 300 songs, 5 audiobooks, and 150+ photos and I still have space to fill!

HARDWARE:
Controls are easy to use, although the joystick is in an awkward place and can cause irritation if used for many hours at a time. But this is not a huge problem because after 4-5 hours of play you need to take a break anyways. - The screen on the PSP is AMAZING. All the movies look great! You can set custom themes and Wallpaper which all look amazing. Really the visual quality is PERFECT. - The audio is severely lacking, the built-in speakers STINK. You will need a good pair of headphones to enjoy the audio, unless you are playing somewhere away from all noise. - Device feels absolutely solid in your hand, not flimsy at all.

SOFTWARE:
The Internet Browser is a little rough around the edges, but learn how to use the controls and it's a breeze to Surf the Net, check web based email, etc. - Navigation is a BREEZE, no learning curve at all. SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. Also looks GREAT. - Updating the Firmware, which happens every couple of months, is a breeze! And almost always is an improvement. For instance, Sony just added support for listening to music and browsing photos at the same time in their latest Firmware release. October 2007)

GAMES and MOVIES:
For a long time the game catalog was lacking, but Sony just introduced the release of a ton of games from the Greatest Hits library onto the PSP. PSP fans Rejoice! - Still lacking in quality and recent release movies.

Overall, I recommend PSP to anyone who likes portable gaming and the idea of being able to view photos, movies and music without switching to another device. You will love your PSP for a LONG time. Sure there are things the PSP could do to improve, but hopefully over time the new features will be added. In the meantime, the current set of goodies will keep you busy!

3 out of 5 stars Great console; horrible library.   October 27, 2007
My title pretty much says it all. It's been out what, 2 or 3 years now? Still, the library is just horrible. Only a handful of decent games out there that you run through really quickly if you are a regular player. 5 stars for the console and 1 star for the library equals 3 stars overall. Bottom line, the Nintendo DS Lite is a better buy all around.
