3 out of 5 stars Maybe....   September 14, 2008

I'm thinking that rating this game is pretty subjective because it's so different from other games. It's pretty low key and relaxing. It might be educational but wasn't stimulating to me. However, maybe you don't want to be all the time. I would rate the graphics as fair to good because the colors are not so intense as in other games. I wouldn't rate it low just because it's not interesting to me. An 11 year old I know played it for over an hour and he thought that it was okay. He is quite the video game player and I don't have a chance against him. I should add that he wants to be a marine biologist which could account for his interest.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Game! Lots Of Fun Exploring.   September 10, 2008
"Endless Ocean" was released in January of 2008. Unfortunately, this is a game I let "slip through the cracks" so to speak. For one thing, I didn't have a Wii then and when I finally got one there were several other titles I wanted instead of this one.

I'm glad I finally bought it because this is a beautiful game. Unlike many reviewers here who said they got bored that's because you're not accepting this game for what it is. I will tell you what it is not: it isn't a shoot 'em up, bang, bang game, it's not a game where you go around stabbing people, and it certainly isn't a game where you use your martial arts abilities to beat up someone. THIS GAME HAS ZERO VIOLENCE.

The basic idea of the game is to dive and explore underwater lands, but along the way you will be given clues as to where you need to go and what you need to do. There is actually ALOT to do on this game and you may get overwhelmed with things to do from time to time. Just do them one at a time and you'll be fine. Be sure to always check your mail, because this is apart of the game. The mail is designed to give you an idea of what you should be doing. One reviewer said this game lacks direction. I'm not sure if they were playing the same game I have been playing or not, because you have plenty of direction and ideas of what you need to be doing. What you do in this game is in black and white and if you can't comprehend something as simple as a piece of mail or your partner giving you clues, then best of luck to you. It couldn't be any easier.

This game is actually quite fun despite what some people have said. It's fun learning above the aquatic life in the sea and in the process discovering new places.

Throughout the game you will be traveling by boat to get to your desired destination. As I mentioned, you will be guided throughout as to where you need to go and what you need to do, so there's plenty to do.

This game is what it is and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out either. It's pretty straight-forward and self-explanatory most of the time. Enjoy "Endless Ocean" for what it is and not what you think it should've or could've been.

Highly recommended for the gamer who's looking for something different.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game!!!!!   September 6, 2008

This is a great game. It is ultra fun and relaxing. You can do so much! I have two partners, a dolphin, and a false killer whale. It is cool to go under water, and ride on some whales or fish. The only problem is when a friend comes over wifi, You cannot chat, and it is easy to get lost from your partner. Overall, this is the best game i have ever played and You should buy it. Note that you do not want to rent the game though. It is hard to "finish" the game.
GREAT GAME!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars For Wii, Beautiful and Peaceful...But not Action   August 29, 2008
Of the 8 or so Wii games I have, this is probably my favorite for graphics...which says quite a bit since Wii definitely has the worst graphics of the platforms. The dialogue and general storyplay of this game does lead a lot or a bit (respectively) to be desired, it still was fun to play.
This is also not a game for someone who has a short attention span. It does require you to search around for different fish, animals, or items. If you don't have the patience, then you might want to pass this game up.

4 out of 5 stars It's addicting!   August 18, 2008

I kept avoiding renting this game when my kids wanted to because it sounded boring, like watching a fireplace on TV, but finally gave in. Wow! I'm glad I did! It's alot more than just sight-seeing. It's a treasure hunt, dolphin training, and much more! And yes, very addicting (I found I had passed 3hrs of time playing while my kids slept Saturday morning!)

The only bad points: The people are a bit wooden (WHY don't Wii people TALK instead of having to read the text?! and who cares about 'earning' a new hairstyle?!), and the fact that if you don't save your progress you have to start over/go through all the training exercises, even if you know how to do things (having watching another play)

Definitely one of those "fun for all ages" and very informative (IF you can get your kids to stop and actually read all the information on the various fish!)
