Brain Age September 14, 2008 Great exercises. Frequently, however, the software has difficulty with verbal answers (eg. "yellow", "blue"), asking for repeats. Hopefully, these exercises will significantly enhance brain function, or at least minimize deterioration in this 63 year-old (well, hey, I just scored "age 28" ;->) user. I'll see, I guess. Anyhow, it's fun.
Frustrating Game September 11, 2008 There are many screens that give useful information about the brain, but navigating through the screens (before actually playing a game) can be quite tedious. This occurs every time you want to play or finish a game. Also, the handwriting recognition software is poor and causes you to lose points when the game cannot recognize your writing. For example, I have to write a "g" so that the software will recognize the writing as a #9. The software gives an inaccurate depiction of your brain age because you will lose points when it cannot recognize your handwriting. The voice recognition is poor and I don't even have an accent. Don't waste your money. Playing a game of chess with somebody will give you more stimulation and less aggravation.
Love this game, although having difficult times with voice recognition August 29, 2008 I got this game about 6 months ago. I love it!!! However, I have difficult times with the voice recognition. But English is my foreign language and I have an accent so..... I guess that for most English speakers, it should work fine. I just don't play the voice calculation game. Overall, I think it's a great game.
Good brain training August 28, 2008 I enjoy this game quite a lot. My only regret is that there are not more levels, and that "Doctor" could be silenced after he has revealed all his little wise sayings. Some of the vocal tasks can be a challenge, as, for some reason, the DS doesn't like the way I say "blue", or if I write too quickly it misinterprets what I put down. But I think that would be true of most any game. (Obviously this is my first DS and first DS game, so I am still learning the ropes.) I am anxious to get Brain Age II to see if it is as much or more fun than I.
Very poor character and voice recognition August 20, 2008 The games which depend on character/written number is frustrating and cannot be corrected. Enter a 1 then 2 for 12 and it sees a 4!!! Say Yellow - the only 2 syllable color (from Red, Black, Blue) and it is incorrect! There is no way to input voice recognition change which is common on most software now. It doesn't even alow you to override your score when it gets it wrong. Very frustrating.
