4 out of 5 stars Guns   October 28, 2008
Game is great, but I thought I would focus this review on the weapons for new players. These are my opinions. Basically the starter guns in each class are the most balanced weapons within that class and are usually the best, with a few exceptions.

For Assualt, although it's fun to play with some of the other guns, the first gun is all around the best. The M-16 is good for a large map if you like to hang back a litte, but then you may as well take a different class. The grenade launcher is a critical weapon for Assualt because it allows you to make holes in buildings from far away. This can be very useful when you are on the Attacker side.

For Support, some people like the MG3 because it shoots so fast, but the damage is much less. It's fun to play with though. Overall the best gun is the first one again. The XM8 LMG is ok as well if you are playing like an Assualt class meaning getting up close. I would take this class with an XM8 LMG before taking an Assualt with the M16.

For Specialist, the first gun is really the best hands down. If you are in very close combat like running through lots of buildings there is the PP2000 which shoots very quick and can be useful, but it can't shoot very far accurately. It's fun to mess with but the first gun is the most balanced. Specialist can deal some serious death and a lot of the best players only use this class. The C4 satchel charge is a big plus here.

For Demolition it's little different because one nationality gets a different first gun which is an automatic shotgun while the other two get a pump action. Some people like the one shot one kill shotguns (NS2000, SPAS12 and the first guns to a certain extent) and others like the auto shotguns SPAS12, Saiga12 and USAS12. I personally like the auto shotguns more because I can kill two people without having to reload and three if I get lucky. But in very tight quarters, espcially in conquest because it's more one-on-one the NS2000 or SPAS15 are the best. Out of the auto shotguns I like the USAS12 because it deals a little more damage, but honestly they are all mostly the same.

For Sniper there are two guns the VSS and the QBU88 that are best. I see a lot of people using the M95, but they usually aren't getting a lot of kills. The VSS is what I consider a "scout-sniper" rifle because it allows you to be pretty agressive and fight near the front lines if you are good. I can get 20-30 kills with this weapon. The QBU88 is more of a traditional standoff weapon. You can't shoot quite as far as the M95, but honestly it's almost impossible to hit a moving target from much farther away than the QBU88 can fire. And if the target is sitting still long enough to hit with the M95 then they are probably a noob and killing them won't help you win. The key is to kill the people killing you, not the noobs. Anyway three hits with the QBU88 will get a kill. Unless you get a headshot, the M95 takes 2 hits so it's not that much more effective and it takes forever to reload.

Some of this comes down to style and just wanting to try new things, but I would recommend not getting any guns as upgrades (exceptions below) before getting the add-ons such as the C4 and the auto-injector. The exceptions to the guns are for the Demolition and Recon classes. If you really like the auto shotguns then get the SPAS15 (or better the get the code for the USAS12), because only one nationality gets an auto shotgun to start. Or if you raelly like the pump, then get that for when you are playing the Russians and don't get a pump shotgun. For Recon, the VSS is really a destroyer if you know how to use it well so I would recommend getting that. It's tough to use though so you might want to wait a little on it until you get used to the game.

5 out of 5 stars Best multiplayer game made   October 23, 2008

This is by far the best multiplayer game on the market. The Battlefield people have really figured it all out. I have played cod4, Far Cry 2 and even the new Socom, but neither compare to Bad Company. Although Far Cry 2 has a better single player game in my opinion. If you havent played Battlefield, you should but it, or rent it for a weekend. If you rent it, I bet you will buy it. I think it is the best online game ever made, plus they have 4 new maps coming out for free!

5 out of 5 stars 'There's Gold In Them Thar Hills!'   October 8, 2008

Alright, so anyone who is a Shooter fan, or even has a PS3 and or Xbox360 has likely heard of the newest Battlefield game. First of all, I noticed you can only carry three weapons. Your knife, which is always there, Your gun, and your other item. The cool thing about that is that you can grab a Machine Gun, and carry a Rocket Launcher at the same time. You can also flip various guns to give you a grenade launcher. Very cool, very cool. The basic plot is, you're a group of four "Prisoners deemed expendable by the army" and you're sent to serve your country instead of time in jail. Much more fun if you ask me. The story is filled with humor, which made me chuckle. I'm not going to ruin the story, so I will leave it at this. A little short, yes, but all you really need to know is you have a gun, and you have enemies. Enjoy the fun side of war.

Graphics- Great graphics. Not to the PS3's full extent, but it was for the 360 to, so you can't expect to be amazing. They kept the graphics at the same level throughout the whole game. It made it more realistic to me, and made you think you are watching a movie.

Sound- Personally, this had some great musical work in it. Mostly piano. But it always made me feel inspired to hear the melodies.

Gameplay- A shooter system that was a little changed up by the ability to shoot grenades from your gun. Very good. Only problem is that the Single Player mode is too short. Online play is solid, except that you can only do two types of battles, and the fact that you can't do a simple "Whoever has the most kills wins" however, the different style of online play is worth it.

Innovation- Not much different from another shooter, but it's definitely one of the best out there on the current gen consoles right now.

4 out of 5 stars Bad to the bone   September 29, 2008
Is this a perfect game? No. But it's sure a helluva lot of fun and it has really raised the bar another notch. In my opinion, the graphics are up there with the best (CoD4, Ghost Recon: AWF, and Assassin's Creed). The character development is the best ever, you really start to like these guys. The dialogue is natural and funny, not the usual 'try too hard to be funny and fail', but an easy, believable funny. I've played it from start to finish in every imaginable angle of attack (even running down as many enemy soldiers with vehicles as possible) and I can't get enough. The vehicles handle easily and naturally (not like HAZE where it seems your always driving with the brake on), you can view through the drivers window and listen to one of three radio stations or go 3p. Each vehicle has it's unique handling characteristics and sound as does each weapon type. And on top of it all, the story line is unique and fun. Believable? As good as anything else out there. And, while the AI has some repetitive factors on the replay, like gun positions and tank locations and certain attack lines, there is also a lot of variation that keeps it interesting.
WOULD LIKE TO SEE: some real stealth segments and some bad weather and night time ops.
Personally, I don't think there's anything in the genre that is better, on a par maybe, but not significantly better.
For those of you that can only find fault, all I can say is, "If you can do better, do it. Otherwise, relax and enjoy what the game has to offer, look for the good, and stop trying to screw it up for everyone else." Sorry, but I haven't seen a 5 star yet.

5 out of 5 stars Another good Battlefield game.   September 15, 2008
Another good game from the Battlefield series. The vehicles are just as fun as always as well as the classes. The ranking is nice too. After reaching rank 25 you can see how others are doing on a scale I am not sure how low it goes but 1 being the highest I think Ive seen some people are 30+ ranks. At least you know who plays all the time and who just is terribad.
