5 out of 5 stars Finally a great price for an awesome console   July 24, 2008

I got this unit from another retailer, and i think finally a good price is available. This actual version of the 360 runs very cool (no more overheating) and the dvd drive is very silent, so it is very reliable, thanks to Microsoft for such a great product. It has everything the Elite version will bring but with a smaller hard drive and the HDMI cable is not included (you can get it cheap in many places), but the HDMI port is built-in with this release.

Now that the overheating issues have been fixed, i am convinced that the XBOX 360 is the best video game console in the market today and with the best libraries of games available.

2 out of 5 stars 360 wasn't a smooth landing   July 23, 2008

Received package from Amazon. Opened and found headset was broken (snapped where the clamp meets the mic mount). Upon hooking up the Xbox 360, we found that component/HiDef output was not showing the right colors. Tested composite connection and colors were fine. Tried swapping the cable and found color output from component was still outputting funky colors (XBL games screen is light blue, etc.). Called MS and was told expect up to 4 weeks to repair it. This was tremendous news to my son who spent 6 months saving up for it. Thanks Microsoft, you shipped another dud.

5 out of 5 stars The New Xbox Experience is Coming!   July 23, 2008

The console operates perfectly. The dashboard system or start-up menu works great and will eventually be updated to look even better by this fall. The Xbox 360's library of games is great with more titles coming by the month. A quick glimpse at gamerankings.com shows that the 360 has more exclusive titles rated over 80%(Gears of War 2 is coming out this Nov 7, the first one was rated higher then Metal Gear Solid 4)! I have had my 360 since April 2006 so I'd imagine that a console made in 2008 would be even better. If you want a great gaming console for your kids or for you just JUMP IN!

This console is awesome. IT is convenient to go online and download all the new game demos to see if I would actually like to buy them. I love the system link feature.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of money   July 22, 2008

I've owned my Xbox 360 for over 2 years now. The problems that I've had with it is not worth the headache. It's on it's way to be repaired (again), last year this time I was hit with the 3 red rings. It took Microsoft about 2 months to repair my system and send it back to me. When I finally did recieve the system back it was refurbished. I paid for a new system and was given a rebuilt system in return. This time around the CD tray stopped working, in the middle of the game it started to make this squeeling noise. When I restarted the system the tray would not stay closed, when it did, the disk couldn't be read. I called xbox support and wouldn't you know my Warranty expired last month. It's convenient that my system was being repaired last year this time, now my refurbished xbox is being repaired again, except it's out of my pocket. All in all the Xbox 360 is a worthless piece of garbage, and I would never buy another xbox console as long as I live.
