As always, fun with friends March 9, 2008

Pros: Beautiful graphics, improved mini games which utilize both Wii and traditional controls, fun boards.
Cons: Not much fun without friends, not terribly innovative, the Mii games are no good.
Mario Party games almost defy conventional reviewing. The minigames are simplistic and many of them often involve repetitive button mashing. Winning a board is often based as much on luck as skill and the plots are so thin that you can see straight through them. Still, these games are consistently just plain fun, provided that you have a partner or group to play with. This makes them more praise worthy than many games which, on the surface, seem like better picks.
Mario Party 8 follows the traditional formula, but is, I believe, the best Mario Party yet. To begin with, Mario and the gang look great on the Wii. I didn't think that much more could be done with this simplistic graphics style, but both the characters and boards are beautiful. The mini games are also a lot more fun than in many previous installments. Some of them use Wii motion sensing and for some you turn the Wii remote sideways and use it like a conventional controller, but they are nearly all fun. The Wii controller allows for a much broader range of minigames and the games where you mindlessly mash buttons are gone.
Winning Mario Party is still about as much luck as in the earlier games, but the boards have some really nice concepts behind them and much of the frustration that the other games caused is taken away by minimizing Bowser's role, although I rather miss the character spaces.
One of my biggest problems with this game is that the extras are not all that they could be. There need to be more features that you can purchase with cards earned and the Mii games which are probably a selling point for lots of people eager to use their Miis are no good at all.
Mario Party 8 isn't the type of game that is going to shake up the industry or send hardcore gamers running for the shelves, but it is the best in the series and should offer a lot of fun for people looking to play with friends.

I bought this game for me 7 years brother and he loves the game. He likes to play alone and with his friends.
Also, this game is super fun if you invited friends to play. I'm 22 years old and my friends always come to my house to play
Some games are too easy, but the competition and the wii remote makes fun.

I am 21 years old and I have so much fun with this game. Do it on your own or with a huge party and you will have a blast! I recommend this game highly!

I purchased this game for my grandchildren to use on the Wii when they visit us. I have found that at age 66 I also enjoy playing this game. It is lots of fun for all ages.

I love mini-games. I love casual games. I love multi-player games. I love Mario games. I hate Mario Party 8.
The game was so lame I tried to take it back to the store for a refund. The controls are sluggish and there is hardly anything to the game. Instead of getting this, get Super Monkeyball (with it's large collection of mini-games, some good and many lame), or Big Brain Academy (all good), or something else, anything else.
This game moves so slow, that my son wanted me to make the game start, while we were towards the end of playing a game.
