Great bag at great price! September 17, 2008 I purchased this bag a few months ago when I got a new 17" laptop and my old 15.4" bag couldn't hold it. This bag, like nearly all Targus products is amazing. So many pockets to fit just about anything. I hold my laptop, my textbooks, a change of clothes, and all of the small essentials like my PSP, calculator, cell phone, sunglasses, hard drives, food, and just about anything else you would need to survive for a few days in here at all times. It's great. And it's nearly water proof. I've walked through quite a few showers already with dry clothes and laptop still intact within the pouches. It doesn't, unfortunately, have quite as many pockets as my last bag(also a Targus) but it makes up for that with bigger pockets and more space throughout. Again a great bag. Definitely worth the buy. And at almost half the price of other retailers(i.e. Best Buy and Circuit City) it's definitely cost effective. Great Buy! Just click buy.
Targus Notebook Backpack September 17, 2008 I purchased this several week ago to fly with. It is so functional. You would not believe how much you can fit in there. Best of all, I paid half of what Best Buy charges for the same Backpack.
gets the job done September 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a monster of a notebook (Gateway P-7811FX 17" 16x10). Reading reviews of other backpacks on this site and newegg.com it seemed that people reported issues with their laptops not being able to fit into the self proclaimed 17" backpacks. After reading reviews here that claimed that this pack was very large, I decided to go with the less flashy but sure fitting pack. Money was never a factor in my decision.
PROs: - Inexpensive for a 17" laptop backpack (though not part of my decision it made it easier to pull the trigger) - It does not disappoint when it comes to space available with the laptop inserted. - the laptop protective compartment makes for a comfortable fit. It can be inserted and removed easily. Also keep in mind that my laptop has an extended battery design on the back which adds to the already large dimensions. - It has a fair amount of pockets.
CONs: - the backpack is very lack luster in comparison with other laptop backpack. I don't feel that the backpack will fall apart if used with reasonable care, just that it certainly isn't winning any awards for best quality. - Though there is plenty of room, they don't do much with it. They provide pockets but they are either poorly placed or to shallow for many small items. - the drink holder on the side of the bag is a nice thought but to small for most Nalgene standard size bottles to fit, as well as too shallow to house the smaller bottles (Camelbak & Nalgene) that are thinner and taller. This results in the bottle falling out.
In the end the backpack works for my laptop and gets the job done.
