Great device, bad exercise software. September 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
it takes 6o minutes of fussing with menus to get in 30 minutes of exercise. It banks minutes for each exercise so you can easily observe that. It starts EACH exercise as though you just started your session for the day. You can't string together a routine. There are menus that could be streamlined. For example, it says it needs to ask you how much your clothes weigh (there is no way out of that) THEN it takes you to a second menu to make you give the answer -- both question/answer could have been combined on the first screen (small example but it does that throughout). There is no cost for leaning too far and that is important in some of the games, for example the 'heading football' game. If it is on the right, you'll get the ball, no mater how far you lean but then try to get back to center and you see how sensitive the device is and what they COULD have done in an advanced version of the game.
Ever-changing exercise September 27, 2008 I wanted to get this from the moment I heard about it and in fact pre-ordered it. I'm glad I did.
Can you work up a sweat using a Wii fit? Yes. Will your work-out be varied? Yes. Like any exercise program, do you need to stick with it to get anywhere? Yes!
With the base game on the Wii Fit, you unlock new yoga poses, exercises, stretch/stregthen, and games the more you do. I love the yoga poses and the games. There's also a boxing set-up that you can unlock that gives a pretty good work out. The wii fit also helps you keep track of how you're doing and gives you a section where you can add in any additional exercise with intensity you are getting outside the game. This is the perfect companion for anyone who says they don't have time to exercise. You can work out for a few minutes or a few hours, its all up to you. Along with that, they are coming out with new games all the time to utilize the Wii Fit. Talk about a varied work-out! Other than the normal, "I don't want to exercise..." you will not get bored.
Loving the FUN!!!!!! September 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am 28 years old, weigh 223lbs on a good day and love to have fun!!. My friend bought the Wii game and I was eagered to try it and I am glad I did. I have hasseled her a million times to bring it over for my roomate and I to play. We love it so much, this is the most exercise that I have had in a long time. It really makes me push myself to the limit. I am always trying to beat one of my friends record and so far I am ranked #1 on all except the "super hula hoop". I am out of shape but that is my goal to gain enough stamina to be #1. Plus, I plan on ordering the Wii for myself so that I can use it more. This is the most fun that I have had exercising and I plan to stick with it. I know I have a long way to reach 125lbs but I know that I can with the help of this game. I don't think of it as exercise, I just play and sweat and scream with my friends. Plan and simple pure fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worth the wait! Better than I had hoped it would be. September 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I missed the first round of Wii Fit availability in May, so I signed up for amazon.com's Text notice. The first two times I got a text message on my cell phone, I didn't respond fast enough, but the third time was a charm. I just replied "buyfit" and it posted to my account. Hurray! I was really looking forward to it after all I had read about it.
It has not disappointed me. I am 36, on the computer all day at work, and although I used to be a regular at the fitness center and stayed in good shape, my physical fitness regime totally fell apart after my 2nd child (now 3 years old). I have a treadmill which I like, but it doesn't do anything for my upper body or other muscles. After years of neglecting many muscles, I finally feel like I am getting stronger and more energetic again. I am looking forward to losing weight, but mostly I am glad that I feel healthier. Evidently I do still have muscles in my shoulders and arms! :)
I've never done yoga before so that's new to me; it's harder than I expected. I really enjoy the strength training exercises -- I love having a personal trainer, and I really like that I have to focus on keeping my balance during many of the exercises. It makes it more of a challenge and I like the competetiveness of trying to beat my previous score. The aerobics are really fun - love the running game. Even though it's running place, the scenery is fun. There is a 2-person running game, and my 3-year-old and 8-year-old both like to race me. I really like the aerobic step too. The balance games are fantastic. Really tough until you get the hang of it. My balance has improved a lot since I started 4 weeks ago.
My 8-year-old is very into using the Wii Fit. I've never been one to let her play video games, but with the Wii Fit it's all exercise, and we have fun competing against each other and trying to beat each other's high scores. I don't feel at all bad about letting her spend time doing the Wii Fit games and exercises.
I can't say enough good things about it, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come out with to top Wii Fit!
I'm hooked September 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok so when I was plunking down the 90 bucks for this game I thought, "this better be worth tracking down every store in a 100 mile radius over a period of 9 weeks to find it." IT TOTALLY WAS! I find that I am allergic to exercise, the mere thought of it gives me a panic attack, but because you are playing this game, you don't really realize that perhaps you are doing more activity than you normally would which could be classified as "exercise" because you spend 40 minutes not sitting on your butt. Are the balance games fun? Yes, and apparently I have no balance. My kids battle it out with me to play the game, which I find totally funny. They love the Yoga more than I do. Is it as vigorous as the tredmill? Well, I don't know, the running game is pretty intense (anyone ever try to run in place for 30 minutes? Holy cow....) I was sore after the first few days of the yoga and the strength training, and for those two areas alone it is well worth the money. Overall, money, gas and travel time (to find the thing), well spent for a game that has not missed a single day of use since we bought it 6 weeks ago.
