3 out of 5 stars Still the same fun   March 22, 2007
Still the same fun as the past years as story mode is pretty good, but animations are outdated and still not as classic as the WWF games on n64.

3 out of 5 stars A love-and-hate review.   February 22, 2007

I really love this game, as well as nearly every THQ wrestling game since WCW VS NWO: World Tour. Still, there are to many details that lack polish, to many bugs and glitches to give it a perfect rating. It's without a doubt the game that crashes the most in my 360 since I bought it, and I've played a lot. It also has a bug that makes my 360 crash every time my created superstar is going to contend for a custom title belt, right after the belt is removed from the HDD (it most be temporarily removed before a title match and re-saved after the match) making me lost the belt and all the money invested in it. It's not that much of a big deal but it's only one of the details that scream the game was rushed.

Another one is the intros, both of them (Raw and Smackdown) are displayed in low-res and full screen only, which is annoying because I bought a widescreen 720p LCD HDTV to play my XBOX 360 games and to have a cheap intro in an HD "next-gen" game makes no sense. Also, the roster feels outdated. The superstar with the highest overall in the roster is Kurt Angle, who's currently at TNA, and superstars like Jeff Hardy and CM Punk are nowhere to be found. There's no hope of updating the roster through downloadable content, since the game does not support it.

Another huge letdown is the commentary, which is completely carryover from the 2006 edition. This completely sucks if you played the previous version, and also the fact that Smackdown currently has Bradshaw instead of Tazz doesn't help the game feel less outdated. The game does look great and the sweat effect rules. The divas look hotter than ever and the story mode is way better that 2006's. There's a lot of fun in this game including earning the Money In The Bank trophy (I got it on my second try, my brothers are still trying). THQ should consider adding content download support for the next installment, as well as updates to fix the bugs in 2007. If they do this, maybe they can exceed the glory achieved by WWF: No Mercy in its time.

3 out of 5 stars Heels in Season mode...hmmm. (360 version)/ After further review....   January 22, 2007

I was pretty fired up to play this game right after I got the demo, and it didn't disappoint when I played the purchased game. A minor annoyance: ring music can't be customized. The big one (unless I'm missing something) is you can't play a 'heel' or dirty wrestler in season mode. Unless I missed some setting somewhere (not in the CAW dialogue) any wrestler (created or regular roster) will default to a clean 'face' wrestler when you start the season, complete with the clean move list and taking massive 20+ point momentum hits every time you attempt a dirty move (my created wrestler has a bunch of them). I'm really hoping I have missed a setting or option somewhere since this one glaring oversight really detracts from a pretty good game. I've posted to the publisher and developer sites and will update if they answer. My hope is that XBox Live will post a patch sooner than later. The movelists and momentum boosts/hits (both clean and dirty) seem to function correctly in all exhibition modes.

**Much time has passed - It's August 08**
I still play this game. Excellent party game rivaling "Madden". I had underestimated the online community and everyone's contributions to Create-A-Wrestler etc. After completely filling the storage slots with original content (I thought Koko B. Ware, El Condor and Barry Horowitz were pretty good) I came across something: if you play through as a bottomed out wrestler (38 overall rating), earn a lot of xp through matches, you may then copy this wrestler, erase the customization and use him/her as a template to create your own historically accurate roster. The replayability and the previous item on customization make me bump the funmeter to "5/5" and the overall to "4/5", after further review.

Oh, and I know '08 has been out. I played it. Like this one better.

5 out of 5 stars Best there is, so far except....   January 19, 2007

This game is the best there is so far in the series, except three things.

1. Cancelled PS3 Version

2. The 360 Version, unlike the game Raw, cant use harddrive music as custom music, real let down.

3. Lack of some superstars like Eugene and Spirit Squad.

Other then that, gameplay rocks, story mode isnt bad, Caws like 2006 version. If you like the WWE, youll love this game.
