4 out of 5 stars If you enjoyed the first...   June 25, 2008

You will enjoy this one as well. Not going to go into incredible detail. But definitely worth getting if you like Company of Heroes. I love the new German Panzer Elite. They are really versatile with defense as well as offense. Definitely great if you like fast attacks. I haven't played much with the British and from what I've experienced, I don't like them all that much. They will definitely take some getting used to. Campaign is great fun as well, I've finished the German campaign and I'm currently working on the British. This game is worth getting. I recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Can't use a router if you want to play multiplayer   June 13, 2008

I was addicted to this game for quite awhile. I stink, but I was still addicted. It is a fun strategy-type game, putting you in an semi-omniscient god mode. It is a worthy successor to the original, as the new units are fun to use.

The big problem for me is that I have networked my and my wife's computers at home through a router. This game's multiplayer mode will simply not work online if you are trying to connect to it through a router. And this little tidbit of info is nowhere to be found. I finally did connect to someone in multiplayer mode who knew about this and was kind enough to inform me.

I have no idea why this is so, but more to the point, there is no reason why this should be so. This is supposedly a known problem with the game, and it seems like they could issue a patch to fix this. But there hasn't been one.

Obviously, this is fixable by disconnecting the computer from the router and connecting directly to the internet without it. But that's annoying, and then I'll forget to reconnect the router and get hell for it from my wife who hasn't a clue except that she knows that she can't get online.

Otherwise, enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as I thought it can be   June 3, 2008

It is truly an exciting game. However, the forces are kind of unbalanced, with King Tigers and Jagdpanther dominate the whole field of armor and the British trench digging are render useless by mortar halftracks and motorcycles that just wander around capturing and cutting out your forces. It seems to me as if some of the doctrines doesn't even have the effect Relic intend to produce (or I am bad at the game...) The music is barely okay, and the campaigns get super repetitive after a while and especially after you earned all the metals. Online and local skirmish are the only elements that are the elements I like and have high replay values. The units are also detailed if your computer's graphics allows it to be. My PC is weak and sometimes experiences a few lagging experience. However if your computer is good then you are good to go. Take notes, the patching up is annoying. I spend two-three hours fixing almost nothing expect to play online (which I rarely do).

5 out of 5 stars Like a chess game...with explosions and swearing!   April 7, 2008

This is by far my favorite game on the market today. THQ has outdone themselves again by adding the British and (FINALLY) the German forces to do battle in what feels like a tactical chess game. The game has an eb and flo much like real combat and a gameplay feel that is much smarter than Blitzkrieg and Sudden Strike RTS games. The graphics are outstanding and dynamic. The sounds give the game a real combat feel, especially the explosions. My favorite part however is what the units say when selected or perhaps over selected (they tend to get upset....he he). If you are buying the game you will have to spend some time downloading patches, but it is worth it. Once you can play online against other human players it will give you a completely different experience. The regular game is very entertaining, but the skirmish and online games a fun forever. This is a game that will not get thrown on the shelf when the story part is complete. Whats next for Company of Heroes?????.....Hopefully a eastern front version, with the Soviet army? Buy this game, it has hours and hours of fun and entertainment.
