Perfect Adult Game!! July 20, 2008 I got this for my husband... we both LOVE it!!! Even my 7 year old created a profile to play too. She has a harder time because the math and such are geared for adults... BUT she does much better than we expected!! This has been a great learning tool for her. She's been forced to learn some multiplication facts which she doesnt learn in school until next year!
We had some Couples over this weekend for our monthly "game night". We started off playing the standard board games... until someone noticed our Nintendo DS on the shelf. They asked "what's brain age?" So we pulled it out to show them. Before we knew it we were passing the DS around the table racing each other on math facts!! (top score on Calculations x20 is 14 seconds HAHA!!! Can anyone beat that? And there was alcohol involved! haha!!!) It was an absolute riot!!!
We look forward to buying Brain Age 2... but are waiting until we exhaust this version first.
Honestly, July 4, 2008 Brain Age is fun, and if you need something to just keep your mind busy or just something to do for a little while, i recommend it. BUT, i personally dont enjoy it. its fun once it awhile when your bored, but as something to sit down and play for a few hours..NO. It really all depends on what your looking for in this game. something to do for just a few minutes, keep my hand busy - buy it. sit down and play for a few hours, got nothing to do but play my DS - dont buy it. This is just my opinion. Ive read other reviews and most people enjoy it, but this game just wasnt for me. maybe for you?
Brain Age - the cheapest therapist there is June 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am distressed to see Brain Age and Brain Age 2 getting such cutdowns. From those of us with closed head injuries or short term memory problems, it is not only fun but $ thousands of dollars cheaper than suggested therapies. I am doing all the neurological tests (with a co-pay of $1,500) and the only scores that were impressive where the 'games' I played on Brain Age. The therapist was astounded. So was I.
So, if you are just looking for a Suduko game, then buy one at the 7-11. If you are trying to recover or stay younger, go to these games.
I am still in amazement. I love them all!

the devil is in the details June 9, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The most important question about this game is whether the exercises have anything to do with maintaining useful brain functioning. It's true that computation is important and that cognitive flexibility is vital, but is that all there is? Even if you grant that things like humor and imagination are beyond the reach of a video game, it's hard to avoid the suspicion that the test exercises are there simply because they're easy to administer on the little console.
Beyond that, the game's unreliability both in terms of voice and writing recognition makes it frustrating. If you spend most of your time trying to overcome the game's reliability, you're probably not having much fun.
There was something else I wanted to say, but I forgot. . . . .
