3 out of 5 stars Good game, but not as good as Mario Golf 64   March 13, 2005

It's still a good golf game, but I guess it's just the little things that made it kind of disappointing. It was nothing that really matters, but little features that were just nice to have in MG64. Like in MG64 you could choose between different colors for your characters and it just added variety, not to mention two players could choose the same character and just use different colors, where as in MGTT you can't do either of those. Also in my opinion MG64 had better characters, and if I'm not mistaken, more. I could be though, I haven't played that game in a really long time seeing as my N64 broke a long time ago. MG64 had better music too, it was more relaxing in that game. Most of the courses also aren't really as fun in this game as the other one, but I can't really point out what I don't seem to like. But like I said, none of those changes are a huge deal, but it was enough where it didn't keep me entertained for as long as a game normally does.

4 out of 5 stars its pretty fun if golf games areyour thing   January 13, 2005

I could say its a good golf game but i never played any other golf game so i dont know. You have lots of stuff to do though like near pin or speed golf or ring golf or coin collecting or just plain tournament. You get challenged by each golfer and you get there star player if you beat them so thats pretty fun.Overall the graphics are pretty good and the golf realisticness is alright and and doubles is probably the funnest thing to do.

5 out of 5 stars The Best, Mario, The Best!   December 19, 2004

Once again I am very impressed with Nintendo and Camelot's work. This game is, without a doubt, one of the most featured and fun golf games of all time. If humor in a game matters to you, this game is sure to paint a smile on your face. This game features a humorous intro and many lines that will also make you chuckle. On the "Bogey" screen with Wario, he will pick his nose.

Final Thoughts: "MGTT" is a wonderful game. The only con I can think of is Bowser's teasers. I am partial to Bowser (as my screen name suggests), therefore I play as him a lot. I wish that there were actual cheers for Bowser, because I would like to able to play as Bowser and cheer on friends simultaneously.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome game if you have friends   November 4, 2004

I bought this game the first time I saw it marked down to $20, and for that price it has been more than worthwhile.

Having played the Nintendo 64 version of Mario Golf a good deal, I picked up the play on this one fairly quick. I was disappointed when I found out that it adjusts the distance when hitting out of the sand or rough for you, taking the guess work/skill out of working your power bar (in the 64 version you had to hit it harder if you wanted the projected distance your club would give you if you were hitting out of sand, rough or other non-fairway terrain). But this wasn't that big of an issue overall and allowed some of my friends who were less familiar with the game to pick it up and be competitve sooner than they would have been otherwise.

That is where my favorite parts of this game lie. Playing against the AI in tournaments, or the one on one challenges gets old rather fast (especially once you have unlocked everything). But loading up with 4 players for a skins game gets pretty intense and managed to hold my attention for extended periods of time.

If you are willing to commit 30 minutes to learn to play a game and have at least one friend or acquaintance who is willing to do the same, this game is a must own (and is a steal at $20). If 30 minutes of learning is too much, you should probably look elsewhere to fill your virtual golf needs (but with that shortage of patience I doubt that need exists).
