4 out of 5 stars Great Mouse despite few Issues.   October 16, 2008
I've owned this mouse(wraith red version), since it fist came out. Initial professional review sites praised its mousing abilities. My initial thoughts were how nice it looked and felt. Ergonomics were much different than the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer I've been using exclusively for years, however, I quickly became comfortable with the Lachesis and actually prefer it now. I also got the eXactMat with it. At first, the mouse would jump sporadically when using the "control" side of the mat... I turned the mat over to the "speed" side and almost all of the jumping/skipping problems were gone. The sensitivity of the mouse feels great and I love how smooth it feels. All of the buttons give a very responsive click and the roller wheel feels great. It still jumps/skips every once in a while but not enough to cause any problems. The accuracy of the mouse in gaming is excellent, to say the least. Razer did release newer firmware(although it had no effect on me). I also contacted their customer support at one time, and although they were friendly and helpful, they did not have any of the "wraith red" in stock to do an exchange at the time(offered me a blue, but I did not want). The software for this mouse is very substantial and allows you to change everything you could think of. Over-all I enjoy this mouse. Its negatives are highly outweighed by its positives, and this is coming from someone who never thought they would like a "Razer" mouse.

In my experience this is a good mouse depending on the game you play, how you play and what surface you play on. If you are low sensitivity this mouse is no good for you. It doesn't seem to be as accurate as my Diamondback 3g when making sweeping turns in my fps games. If you are mid-high sensitivity this mouse is EXCELLENT!. I couldn't notice any tracking inaccuracies when playing at higher sensitivities. Everything was silky smooth. IMPORTANT! You can't use this mouse on a cloth pad, you need a hard surface for it to track properly. The features in the drivers are nice. You can turn the lights off on this mouse unlike on the Copperhead. You can change your DPI settings in increments of 125 which is a bit weird at first but with a little math you can adjust your ingame sensitivity to compensate (i.e. you can't set it to 800dpi you can set 750 or 825). This mouse would be perfect for me if it could play at super-low sensitivities like my Diamondback 3g can.

I've been using a Copperhead for a while now. What I liked about the Copperhead was the precision and neutral hand orientation is friendly to us lefties. I thought my Copperhead was dying because I couldn't get the drivers to work so I ordered the Lachesis as a replacement.

Logitech has surpassed 2000dpi, but they have yet to offer the same smoothness as the Diamondback not to mention the Copperhead, which completely negates the purpose of 3200DPI.

This mouse is 4000dpi and offers the same smoothness only at higher resolution.

I was initially worried that I might have some problems with lift off, and jumpiness. The mouse shipped with firmware 1.64, and I upgraded to 1.75. Neither firmware had a problem.

The "lift off" movement was no more than 10-20% worse than any other laser mouse which is barely noticeable. Considering the precision, you can't ask for any better than that - plus with this kind of precision, do you really need to lift the mouse? The days of the ball mice are over!

The buttons on the side of the mouse are easier to reach than the copperhead as well.

I'm still getting used to the shape vs the Copperhead, but so far I do not find it any more or less comfortable, I'm just so used to the Copperhead that I'm surprised when I put my hand on something else. My initial reaction is "who cut the sides off my mouse", but overall the feel is close.

I use it with an eXactmat and the Lachesis works excellent on both sides.

5 out of 5 stars Well made mouse.   September 20, 2008
Pro: Nice handling, good size, changeable speed, fits in hand well, alot of buttons.

Cons: If you don't play alot of games most of the buttons will be useless, I just turned the extra ones on the side off.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product   September 18, 2008
This is a fantastic piece of equipment that doesn't deserve the one star ratings that some people threw at it previously. It was incredibly simple to operate..I simply plugged it into my laptop and within seconds, I was utilizing it to play games. I never had to do an install or anything, it was that simple to use - no compatibility issues, no hardware issues, nothing went wrong.

The adjustability of it works very well. You simply press the top or bottom buttons on the middle of the mouse, behind the wheel, to either increase or decrease the dpi, quickly getting it to suit whatever need you have of it. I haven't messed with installing profiles yet, but can't wait to do that as well when I start switching it up a little bit between the games I've been playing.

Overall, this is the best, coolest looking mouse I've owned, and I've gone through 6 'gaming' mice over the past 2 years of varying grades and qualities. I recommend it for anyone that plays pretty much anything on a computer.
