This is great October 30, 2008 I bought this for my son becasue he is now into Manga. He loves the product. He loves the fact that it is so slim and i think it is a great prodcut for a wonderful price. I would reccommend this product to anyone.
Works great for the price! October 30, 2008 I wasn't expecting much from such a cheap tablet, but it's much better than smaller, more expensive store bought tablets I've owned. It does what it's supposed to, but you'll have to play with it a bit before you get your settings just right for normal use in Photoshop or whatever you may use it for.
Great product for the money.
Almost a great deal. October 30, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
So i think the reviews written by everyone else here sums up quite a bit of the fears i had about purchasing this tablet. Basically my biggest issue is it appears the drivers are outdated and don't work well with all the graphics applications i use. Folks who use CS3 report no problems at all with this device. Unfortunately i just purchased CS4 and this tablet has major issues in it (pressure sensitivity not responding randomly after a few minuts, drawing an arc and it draws a strait line or dot of varying opacity). After talking with the folks at Adobe (and getting no response from Genius) i narrowed it down to Genius' out of date drivers (which that's apparently correct).
So the pros\cons layed out by others are pretty accurate. When i got mine everything functioned perfectly, no dead batteries, etc... The tablet itself is a fantastic deal w/ great potential especially for $49.99 (now). The user programmable areas on the sides are great, the quick access menu up top is awesome, and the drawing space and overall feel of using it was great. It did however seem a bit flimsy when placed on the lap (how i like drawing) but on a flat surface (even a book) no worries.
Note that i DID try this with "The GIMP 2.6", Corel Painter X, Blender 2.48 etc... basically all the other software i use, and while those performed /almost/ perfectly 100% Of the time, there were still glitches. You just can't have that while you're in the middle of creating something.
Thankfully Amazon.com is amazing w/ returns because it's already on it's way back. Sad this is the first item i've EVER returned from any online purchase i've made EVER (and i've made a lot). Oh well they almost had a great product, if the drivers were a bit more up to date, this would hands down be a great purchase. I decided to go for a Wacom Bamboo, feel free to venture on over there as i've written a review on my experience thus far.
Hope it helps, Frank...
Quality Graphic Tablet for an affordable price! October 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was primarily looking for an affordable graphic tablet for my daughter to use with Corel Painter Essentials 4 (Win/Mac). She loves to create computer art but I knew she was limited by the mouse. This fit the bill very well, but it did take a couple of days to get proficient with the pen.
One nice thing about this tablet is that it is extra large, allowing for very fine detail work without the need to scroll in too much on an area. Although the mouse is very small, it works wonderfully as a mouse/mousepad combo replacing your current mouse if you would like. We have found that even when we are using our regular mouse, that anytime we want to switch to the Genius mouse all we need to do is left click on the mouse and it immediately switches over and we can begin using the tablet and mouse. The pen has a nice recessed area at the top of the graphic tablet for pen storage, and we haven't yet lost it.
When working with the graphic tablet, the overlay sheet has easy access buttons that can be accessed by placing the pen tip onto the following functions: new, open, save, print, exit, cut, copy, paste, undo, back, forward, email, and www. It also has customizable buttons down the left and right hand sides that can be used with your graphics program.
I found the graphic tablet coming in handy the other day when I needed to sign some forms. I was able to fill them out and sign them right online and then email them back without ever needing to print, write, sign, scan, and then email. It was a big time saver.
One thing I wish Genius had incorporated was a tablet stand so this can sit upright and out of the way when it's not being used.
In Windows Vista, after installing the Genius graphic tablet, a little program showed up that has a small bar on the side of my screen, about 1" long, and just a few pixels wide. When I click on it a handwriting screen opens up and I've been able to scribble down quick notes such as phone numbers or notes from phone calls. Using the Genius tablet it converts my hand written notes into typed text and is incredibly accurate. Clicking on the help button in the Tablet PC input panel, it indicates this is a Vista program, so that may come in useful for the non-typist to convert their handwriting into typed text using this graphic tablet.
Overall, the quality seems just below what you can get for triple the price, but I love the large work space and the price.

Sometimes it stop working unexpectedly but after a few second, it work just fine again. Though it is a good product but it does get annoyed sometimes. Good for drawing and painting on the PC
