Great Zapper & Game! July 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the Zapper because I thought it would help with my recent purchase of House of the Dead 2 & 3. The Link game included was a bonus but, a game with "training" in the title sounded extremely basic so I didn't expect too much. I actually hoped it wouldn't taint my love for the Zelda series (which I am a humongous fan) -- honestly, the game is so much fun, I haven't even played HotD yet with the Zapper. I've been too preoccupied with getting ALL PLATINUM medals and improving my scores.
THE GAME
If you are a fan of Zelda, this set is a must-have. Totally worth the $19.99 admission. If you have played (or are playing) the Twilight Princess, you will certainly be right at home and truly be recognize most of the scenery/characters -- I'm only about half finished with Twilight so I don't recognize many of the scenes because they obviously occur later in the game. The game seems pretty simple at first as 20,000 points is not hard to get at all. When you realize that silver, gold and platinum medals await and you view some people getting vast points on Youtube.com, you might tempted to really improve. Most do once they realize how important it is in this game to shoot very accurately and not just blindly shoot around your targets. If you find this game addictive, I highly recommend you do specific searches on Youtube.com so that you can see exactly what people are doing to become VERY good. You will be inspired and you will improve. I went from being satisfied with getting 15,000 or so on a level to getting almost 160,000 on the same level just a few days later.
Important: At the beginning, there is an option for setting up your Crosshair Cursor for height and speed. Taking the time to fine-tune this will make all the difference. Some have complained about the cursor not matching where they're pointing the zapper... they simply have not configured their cursor properly.
THE ZELDA SERIES
If this is your first foray into Zelda, my hope is that you will be tempted to get into the series as it is the best. If this happens (and it probably will), I'd suggest downloading earlier versions of the series first from the online web store and playing them first -- starting with Twilight Princess might taint you to the earlier games because they're not as pretty ... you would miss out on some incredible games. I'd start with A Link to the Past. Then Ocarina of Time. Skip Majora's Mask for now and go to Twilight Princess. Majora's Mask is cumbersome so go back to it if you're really having a Zelda craving.
THE ZAPPER
The Zapper is simply a piece of plastic, but works perfectly with tyko rechargeble battery pack (if you have it), ... just take off the back cover and you're good to go. There are a lot of people complaining about the design of the Zapper, but I think it works fine as is.
Bottomline -- $19.99 is well-worth it!
one of my favorites July 10, 2008 This was the first "accessory" I wanted for my wii. The games are fun and I really like the bow and look forward to playing games that fully use them. Game is great for training (its a well named game)
Great game for the price July 7, 2008 This is a great game and add on for the price. It feels quite comfortable when shooting and moving around. Hopefully, more games will make use of it.
Wii love the Zapper! June 29, 2008 What a great value for Wii, Legend of Zelda and shooter fans! With twenty-seven fast-paced stages based on the Twilight Princess, the player is immersed into rich environments shooting classic targets, pots, and a plethora of enemies. In Score Attack mode, earn medals to open all the levels. In Multiplayer mode, take turns with friends to see who among you is the best marksman. In Practice mode, hone your skills and work on getting those elusive targets in stages you find to be challenging so you can be ready for them next time in Score Attack mode. The Zapper, which holds the remote and nunchuk steadier than planks and duct tape, feels very comfortable regardless of being right or left-handed. Having grown up on Nintendo products, I expected this attachment to be a great compliment to the Wii. I am relieved that the company continues to live up to its reputation in hardware and software for all levels of gaming. Ever thinking forward, Nintendo will have future shooter games adaptable to the Zapper so gamers can indulge in its ease of use. The only things which I feel would make this package even better would be a plastic case for the game disk, instead of the paper one in which Wii Sports was introduced, and the availability of additional stages through the Wii Shopping Channel.
Worth It June 25, 2008 Link's Crossbow Training and the Wii Zapper are a must have at $20. The Wii Zapper has a pretty sleek design (hiding cables) and is straightforward to use. The game itself is fun and challenging for users of all ages.
