4 out of 5 stars GH3 for the Wii   August 5, 2008
By now, especially in reading the other reviews, you know what this game is about. So, on to my experiences with it...

This game is quite fun, plain and simple. Granted, if you've learned guitar, you might need to "unlearn" it to an extent, but of course you're not here to play a guitar, really, but to play a video game -- complete with button timing and accuracy. In this, GH3 succeeds quite well. Graphics might not be world-beater, that's for sure, but I didn't get a Wii so I could have PS3 graphics. That's why I got a PS3. The graphics are workable, and for the most part not distracting.

The song selecion is good, too -- almost all the regular songs are fun to play (exceptions are due to personal taste, as we all have our opinions on this). The bonus songs are almost exclusively from the past few years. The older songs all hit the mark perfectly, but the newer ones are very hit and miss. Still, you don't need to play them to progress in the game.

The downsides? Alas, not all of the songs are original recordings. That gets a big minus in my book. The boss battles could've been far better, but are passable, with one exception. Tom Morello's "I can make funny sounds with my guitar" battle is distracting and dull. I can get through it fine but only on mute -- and a guitar game where mute not only helps but soothes your ears is not a good thing. I know the battles have been tweaked for GH World Tour, and good for that, but between the covers and this aspect, this game loses a star.

However, I've been playing this game for a good many months and replayability is still there. A solid purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!!!   August 4, 2008
I LOVE this game! It has great songs, most of which everybody should know. It's alot of fun and easy to play! If you don't know what you do here it is:
Pretty much when the little circle note lines up with the other circle you press down the color of the note and then you strum. That's pretty much what you do, you can play career to unlock songs. And there is free play but you can only play which ones you unlocked or bought (with money earned from Career). And if you have two guitars you can play two player.

4 out of 5 stars Neat Game   August 3, 2008
I purchased the game for my 12 year old son. He loves it and his 8 year old sister loves to watch him play. She also sings the songs. Unfortunately, not all of the songs should be sang by an 8 year old but that's probably why it's rated "T" for teens! Overall, it's a fun game.

5 out of 5 stars A Game made for Metalheads and others of course .   August 2, 2008
This game rocks. If I were to compare it to something I was famliar with from the 80s it kind of reminds me vaguely of the Simon game you follow a color pattern and have to keep up with it. However with a guitar controller and cool rock songs. These are very innovative games as well as fun. It seems pricey at first but its so worth the 89 bucks I paid for it just for what you get outta it. You have so many options with Wi-fi, Career mode and for us noobs a "blushes with embarassement" there is even a tutorial and a practice mode haha. For us noobs and "older" guitar hero players I am in my 30s so it will be quite a learning experience but I enjoy it. It has to be the most fun for the wii so far. I can't wait to see other titles that will becoming along. I had the choice to get this or the Aerosmith one with the guitar. I chose this I like to have a variety to chose from that way. I may down the road also pick up the Aerosmith one as well as I tend to be a bit of a collector and horder when it comes to things .I like the design of the guitar controller, the stickers they give you. The ability if you want to customize the guitar by ordering other faceplates. The songs they have on the game are ones I am famliar with both metal and hard rock some are kind of new to me I haven't heard. Its a good game for developing good cordination as well. Its just a rockin game and you'd have to pick it up don't shun at the price believe me while its up there and to us having to pay almost 5 bucks a gallon for gas it can be pricey but I guess if you invest in this game you won't be sorry you did its so worth it being able to play a guitar in your own living room and rock out to the songs you grew up with.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, even if you're an old fogie   August 2, 2008
I bought this for my son-in-law. I decided to try it and had a blast. It's not as easy as it looks, and the songs are great for baby boomers. Lots of laughs.
