Another great Mario Bros game May 29, 2008 My daughter has a Nintendo DS and this was a great addition to her game collection. It includes several mini games that are great fun too. The effects in this DS version are great and it will catch you off guard if you are used to the old Mario games, it will keep you on your toes. This is just good fun entertainment.
Best Buy Ever May 21, 2008 * If you can imagine a never ending game, here you have it. * Challenging enough to keep you trying. * Great for 4 yr olds and up.

i liked all the super mario games i've played, but i don't have any emotional attachment to the series. before i started this review, i read some of the bad reviews given by others. a couple of the issues that were mentioned are totally valid - yes, the levels and boss fights seem to repeat themselves visually. yes, a lot of the levels are pretty easy, especially for a hardcore gamer. the thing is, none of this occurred to me until i read it here. that's how fun this game is. yes, there are elements borrowed from previous mario games - but i thought that was acceptable, seeing as how this is presented as a "remix" of the first super mario bros.
anyway, the gameplay is intense and incredibly fun for the most part. the graphics are exciting. the giant mushroom is awesome. the total, mindless destruction that ensues when you are giant mario is blissfully gratifying. that is, unless there are holes large enough for mario grande to fall into. then you have to keep your thinking cap on while you destroy stuff. the water levels are pretty difficult. finding 3 stars for each board is challenging. the mini-games are fun, but once you play them all once they are pretty useless. the sand/desert boards kinda suck. they are the most dumbed down thing i've noticed on this game.
overall, this game is just straight-forward fun for the casual gamer. i think it was worth the money i payed for it.

I GOT THIS GAME 2 YEARS AGO AND IT IS JUST AS GOOD AS SUPER MARIO BROS. MAYBE EVEN BETTER. I STILL LOVE THIS GAME AFTER 2 YEARS

Mario games have been around for years, but you know, none of them can compete with the original side-scroller adventure games that focused on moving forward, collecting coins and powerups, and no confusion whatsoever compared to these big, lengthy 3D environments that todays Mario games have. Nintendo used to make Mario games so exciting and focused each one on quality back on the NES and Super NES days. Oh how I long for those creative days when the sky was the limit with advancing technology and creativity.
This game does a good job reminding us of the past games such as Super Mario World, but honestly, it can't compete with those old NES and Super NES games which will be classics forever because, back then, they were brand new adventure-type games in a world of video gaming that didn't have anything quite like it at the time. This game, while good, is just "another Mario game".
