4 out of 5 stars ready to care for puppies   February 8, 2008
I got this game for the interactive point and the fact that I love dogs. I didn't realize that if you get this game it reacts like a real puppy. You need to feed it, give it water, take it out and train it. It reacts if don't tend to it by running away. it is fun because you can enter conests for cash, play with other people that have the game and the ds. The game even rates you on what kind of trainer you are. It is fun but be prepared for the long term care of this puppy.

5 out of 5 stars Popular game; addictive   February 8, 2008

My child loves this game. It's a bit addictive, and at first somewhat frustrating. It's fun, though, and my child has learned a few things, too. The time spent with the game is limited by the 'rents.

5 out of 5 stars Go Dawgs!   January 21, 2008
This was by far the best 40$ I have ever spent. My child loves this game. I'm really surprised it's not wore out yet. The effects and all the stuff you can do is really cool. There could be more stuff added. Like being able to take the dogs to the vet, dressing the dog up in clothes would be nice touches. But overall, well worth the money. It teaches them to take care of pets without actually having one.

1 out of 5 stars Great idea, boring gameplay   January 19, 2008

Okay, I can kind of see the concept behind this--a virtual puppy if you can't have a real one. On the other hand, the execution has lead to a BORING, BORING game.

Getting into the game initially is hard--training my dog to respond to its name took quite some time, and the instructions given in the slim manual included were nearly useless. I am beginning to wonder if the increasingly awful documentation included with "hot new" titles is intentional--a drive to get you to buy the "official" guide.

Having said that, after many tries, I got my dog to respond to its name and how to sit. Now what, you ask?

Well, you have to do more repetitive stuff in order to buy supplies for your dog--once you "unlock" the menu to feed, water, walk, and groom your dog, you have to just keep repeating things in order to do more of the same. You then apparently enter contests in order to get more money...to feed and water your dog, and so on and so on.

I can't figure out the appeal here, whatsoever, unless you really, really, REALLY like dogs--and doing the same thing over and over again.

4 out of 5 stars nintendogs dog is misbehaving   January 15, 2008
My 7 year old daughter received Nintendogs with her DS for christmas. She really likes it and thinks it is a really good game. Her dog is very cute. However, she's a little frustrated with it because it won't come when she calls it. The voice recognition software doesn't seem to work that great. It is difficult to program names and commands.
