2 out of 5 stars holy...   December 29, 2004

wow i bought this game(like an idiot) thinking it would be something fun like the sims but just dating instead of always having to eat and pee. WELL JUST FOR YOUR INFO THIS GAME SUCKS!!!wow where do i start first of all there are only 2 hott girls in the game and 3 are ugly. i mean that is sucks because i do not want to date ugly girls. some levels are extremely hard to win like the one where u have to get panties and a dragon tattoo.(what the?!?! a dragon tattoo?)oh yea and if u r gonna buy this game 2 see some panty shots sucks for u because there are none and when we friggen beat the game all that happens is it says congradulations and shows a picture of u kissing the girl...THAT SUCKS...oh yea u cant even walk around in the game all u do is just talk. yes the music is extremely repetetive although nice at first. no girl in real life is as hard to hook up with as they r in this game. well the only good thing about this game was put me in a skiing/snowboarding mood(oh yea u cant do that either)because it is set a ski logde. Instead of buying this game save up your money and go skiing. and if u dont have that much just buy the sims.

2 out of 5 stars Gets Old Quick   December 28, 2004

While Sprung has some amusing dialogue and very nice art work, the game gets tedious really fast. Essentially, it's scene dialogue and you repeat a scene over and over until you say the right things. It's fairly simplistic to figure out the right things to say and there's no real challenge to the game at all.

The graphics are fairly impressive and I'm looking forward to future games for the DS that utilize the graphic interface and give me a challenging game to play.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad for its genre   December 23, 2004

Just so you all know, this game is what most people would label as a "Dating Sim." You likely have never played one before, because to date, the overwhelming majority of these types of games have been limited to release in Japan, where they are incredibly popular. 'Sprung' is a little different in that it is not made in Japan, and caters to a more western crowd. The reason we have not seen these types of games over here is mostly due to the reasons seen in the reviews above. Simply put, most Americans have a hard time playing a game where you don't blow things up or kill people.

This type of game strays from the norm, and actually does a fairly good job for what it is. It gets major kudos for allowing players to play as both sexes, which is typically not possible in most dating sim games. This way, it's good for a girl or a guy to play, or if youre feeling adventurous, go ahead and play the other sex and see how different tactics can be.

Some things to note, however. While this game is technically rated teen, they must have pulled some strings to get that rating. While there is nothing terribly explicit, the innuendo is heavy and strong. Also, there are some things in the game that imply don't make a lot of sense, like when someone not only gives you a dead fish, but you get it back later in the game.. While there are a fair bit of over the top wacky parts tot his game, there are plenty of realisitcally handled responses and situations for your character to experience.

Overall, I would say it's a nice entry of a dating sim into the American and European market. If you've been lookign to play a 'dating sim' and can't read Japanese, then give it a shot. It's not terribly long, but there are two storylines (one for each gender), and it looks like there are different paths to take within those storylines. However, it may be a bit pricey for some at $29.99.

1 out of 5 stars Very boring game   December 21, 2004

Not sure this can even be called a game - it is more like reading a bad book where you decide some of the aspects. If you get a response wrong, you must repeat sections. This become tired very fast. The graphics, while nice, are very limited. Music is repetitive and as there isn't really anything to do in the game but pick responses you get bored with all of it in 30 minutes or less. Save your money and your brain cells.
