how did gamespot give this a 9? March 22, 2005 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
Im sure in the dawn of next gen consoles this was the cream of the crop but nowadays we expect more. Im not talking about graphics, Im talking about gameplay. This game is waay too linear and boring. What really bugged me is the death star attack. Was luke, wedge, and biggs the only rebels fighting against the death star??? The attack on the death star was a huge battle, and so dire taht it the rebels lost theyd be as crewed as thai hooker. So why would only send three fighters to take care of a colossus weapon like the death star? Also, luke isnt such a good main character, he gets annoying after...around the second mission. So why does it get the two? because it works, you shot ti-fighters, and its star wars.
a great game buttttttttttt..................... January 13, 2005 1 out of 5 found this review helpful

ROGUE LEADER is AMAZING! December 25, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
FIRST OFF THE GRAPHICS ARE STUNNING AND THE GAMPLAY IS GREAT! It controls like a dream and the war is great. THe battle from the movies are so cool and the way TIE fighters now explode is great pyrotechnics. SOunds are great and just everything is sensational. This game is one of the greatest games ever made! Wingmen commands are also super cool. Other games don't really have wingmen. This adds a slight realism. Playing as the ace-pilot Wedge Antilles is also very cool. My cons are only in the TIEi fighters, They are too sutpid. When I first played battle of ENDOR, I six TIE fighters crashed into me. I survived but that was just crap. Also the wingman don't do much except maybe knock out ten or fifteen TIE fighter before the level ends. They fly awkwardly and fire at enemies too slowly. The other Rebel pilots that are not your wingman don't do anything expcet take up space. They should be just like your wingman and actually do something. Also, again, you fight hundreds of TIE ifhgtrs and other ships alone. You do most of the work and destroy lik hundreeds of enemies. Not too realistic on that matter. The Imperial levels are great. Destroying X-wings and Y-wings and even A-wings is fun to do. THIS GAME IS GREAT!
Any Star Wars fan would lust over this! September 30, 2004 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Spectacular is the word which comes to mind when I think of this game. This was the first game I purchased for my Gamecube and was the main driving force for me getting a Gamecube. The gameplay is truly great & you get to relive all the amazing Star Wars moments from the movies. There are also plenty of extras to unlock & the game itself will test the best of videogamers. I did think it was a tad bit too difficult though. That was really the only downside to the game. Anyways, the game is now like $20, so I would get it. Rogue Squadron II is definitely a classic you don't want to get rid of. I also recommend Knights of the Old Republic (xbox)!
Great game, but I wouldn't recommend it for a purchase August 10, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First off, I'm a big fan of the original star wars movies, I loved them! But the game disappointed me in several key aspects. And while I may not have enjoyed this title as much as others, it was still a nice game to experience.
The graphics were excellent, the music true to the movies, and the game was incredibly easy to control. So what made it take a turn for the worse? The basic gameplay. It seemed like every mission I started, I would end up attacking the ship I was supposed to be escorting, or spending half an hour trying to fire my secondary weapon (I still don't know how to fire a tow cable). The problem is that the only instructions you get come in verbal form that would seem to only serve as a reminder to those who already know what to do. I really came close to throwing my controller out the window several times.
Once you realize what the objective actually means (for me that meant looking at an online guide), you can appreciate the game for what it is. I may not have played many flying games, but the ships all seemed easy to control. I ended up enjoying the levels where you could just fly around attacking Tie's for target practice. Since a large part of the game consists of collecting medals for achieving objectives, it should last you a respectable amount of time (assuming you eventually understand the instructions). There are also many unlockable levels, so it felt like you got a lot of variety (complete with visually amazing and unique scenery).
Overall a great flying game, but maybe not quite worth a purchase. Great for a weekend rental, but unless you are a hardcore Star Wars fan, I wouldn't recommend buying it.
