Why this one June 3, 2003 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't get why people would still buy this game (burnout) for 49.99, when burnout 2 is out and selling at 39.99. Burnout2 has more cars, has a crash mode were u try to crash into things for cash, it has many vehicles to choose from and has a wide selection of modes. Burnout2 has much better graphics.GET BURNOUT 2
One of my favorite racing games. May 10, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Burnout is the type of game that I really wanted for quite a while; an arcade type racing game with huge detailed crashes. Burnout delivered most everything I was expecting. Some people have complained about the fact that none of the cars are licensed reproductions of real cars. This doesn't bother me at all. The cars do lack detail but that still doesn't bother me. The tracks are pretty long (especially the Marathon tracks) but that just gives you more time to put the pedal down and smash into oncoming traffic. The opposition drivers are pretty smart. They'll try to run you into cars and they don't crash very often. You don't really want to crash into other cars, but the amazing crash visuals make you want to make a huge wreck. There are several different cars available, and then two special cars (a city bus and a big-rig tow truck). All of them handle differently and have different speeds. For racing I like the roadster. For causing huge wrecks I like the bus. A big plus is the large number of tracks you can race on. Granted, several are just reversed version of other tracks, but there are different traffic patterns, weather changes, and some tracks are at night (really neat). You can save your best replays, but each one takes up 15 blocks on a Gamecube memory card. I was kind of sad that the dents and things don't stay on your car after a wreck. They somehow get fixed when you start to race again. I was also wishing it had a "demolition derby" mode where you had to try to smash up as many opponents as you could. No such luck. These little things don't really make me that upset though. Last Word: Burnout is a very fun racing game that is an excellent time-killer. If you want to see some of the best crash visuals ever, do check out Burnout.
there are no 300 cars May 5, 2003 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game ist the great big deal there are saying. The game only has 10 levls and 5 are the other-way-aroun version of the last five. The cars are not cool they suc and the graphics are ok not wow. they dont rewrd bad drivng they just give u a turbo if u pass clos to a car at a hgh speed. if u crash it takes away turb. You get like 20 secs per checkpoints and if u crash u loose like 3 seconds. if u dont like checkpoints it isnt ur game. there are only like 7 cars u can drive. its not a good game at all. Its too expensive for what it is.

I gave Burnout 1 star beacause it didn't use the car's names. It used the janaric name of the cars like sportscar and pickup. That alone cost the at least one star. Second, I didn't think that the game presented a real chalange like other racing games such as Need For Speed do. In those games you get points for doing things like placing in races, but you don't get that in Burnout. You also have different options in NFS that you don't get in Burnout. You can Be the Cop and catch the annoying speedsters. In my opinion, you just get a better quality of game in NFS. I would say not to buy this game. If you like a real racing game, Burnout is a poor choice.
totally awesome! December 1, 2002 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
What can I say about this game? It`s plain awesome!Cars are cool, levels are cool, everything about this game is cool!Graphics are excellant, gameplay is on,crashes are sweet, but it`s the boost that gets you.In my opinion,it`s called NOS.NOS is right on when you get it fully charged up.I don`t recommend getting this on the PS2,considering you might brake your controller, you`ll get so mad at it.But get this game on the GC.If I gave it a rating on a scale of 1 to 10,I`d give it a 15. :)
