Best soccer game yet August 5, 2008 I recently got this, having high expectations and I was pleased with the result. Here are some facts on this. + great graphics + Fun gameplay + Easy to get used to + online play makes it long lasting + lots of modes to play + not too addicting + easy controls - get bored after the 1st hour That is all the negative points. Anyway, for soccer fans, this game is a must and this would be a better choice than the fifa series in my opinion. The motion controls are great and makes the wii experience on this the best. I would really recommend this for someone who is looking for a wii game that is not just sitting and moving fingers. I don't know why it's not on the first bestselling list though.
US Teams Left Out July 30, 2008 Being an American, it irked me that the US National Team has fake names, and that there was no Major League Soccer.
Great control scheme. No other game makes it easier to play through-balls, switch the point of attack, play balls into space, perform give-and-go, run crossing patterns, etc. I've never had an easier time getting players to perform the desired off-the-ball movement. On defense, you can mark players, including double teams.
Things that annoyed on defense:
* Defending highly rated attacking players needs to be micromanaged, even if you assign double teams. Otherwise, once the attacking player gains possession of the ball, he will dribble circles around your computer controlled defenders.
* The computer does a lousy job of defending attacking players making runs off the ball. Always seems to be a few steps behind, with poor positioning.
* Computer controlled defenders will sometimes do nothing when balls are played into space, at least until an attacking player gains possession.
game controls are too difficult to get used to July 29, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the game for my husband because he plays the PC version. I got it for Wii so we could play more easily with 2 people. When we started playing the Wii version, the controls are too tricky and it has a delayed reaction. We don't really play the game now because the controls are too hard to get used to.
Good game. July 23, 2008 PES 2008 for the Wii is definitely one of the best soccer games you'll find around. The controls and game play are both solid, and while the graphics aren't anything to brag about they're still good enough to not detract from the game. You move people around by telling them where to go with the Wii-mote's A and B buttons, which allows you to move anyone on the field, as opposed to just one person like in standard soccer games. This allows for much more planning ahead, which leads to things such as offside traps and the likes. There are different modes to play in, like Champions Road and International Mode (which has different modes in itself), which leads to a lot of game play. The game can get boring if you play it too much; I've done so myself and actually haven't played in a while. Another thing I don't really like is how you can't control your shots; the power and everything is determined by how good the player actually is at shooting, so all you have to do is shake your nunchuck. Regardless, this is a good game that I recommend buying if you're out there looking for a soccer game to buy for the Wii.
Superb game. Far exceeding the expectations. July 14, 2008 One of the best game software my kids have seen. Usually they get bored with any game software within 10 days of playing. But, I see the same enthusiasm even after weeks of play.
I am thinking this might even help with their real field game - while passing the ball, Strategizing etc.
