2 out of 5 stars Fun, very easy to play, but buggy   November 19, 2008

rented this & played it for about 90 min. from BlockBstr. (I'm so glad blockbstr & gamefly exist for renting!) The videos were fine, the voice overs weren't bad at all. The voice overs were done well, the videos cute. The menu is simple, you choose a character like Fiona or even one of the babies & you are stuck with them unless you delete/make a new profile. There is multi player. You go to different 5 different sections & a 6th is locked. Each section has about 5 games & 2 or 3 which are locked. To unlock them, you have to get 1st place, or at least 2nd place after 2-3 attempts. If a game doens't unlock another game, it will unlock more videos or conception art. The game seems to skewed towards letting the player win over the A.I. The games are cute & colorful, several games have shooting by targeting & then flick of the wrist as well as a lot of running (pumping the nunchuck & remote) or even just pumping the nunchuck or wii remote in a game to get power such as hammer throw. (Strength test to hit bell in normal carnival.) My arms got tired from pumping & with the presentation, cuteness, etc. I really liked it. EXCEPT, this game is buggy. In the hoopla something which is a javelin throw, you run & then using wii remote turning you guide it through flaming hoops as it sails to a picture of prince charming. playing as baby of Shrek, I couldn't win after several attempts to unlock another game. when I played at fiona, I had no problem guiding it & the movement registering. the hammer throw my arms just got tired & couldn't get the power meter up. in a tricycle around a track, I couldn't steer, though luckily you can't fall off & I won easily anyhow. In climbing Rapunzel's hair, I had no trouble moving with baby, but Fiona wouldn't respond until I clicked several times, though won anyhow both times. the last thing was hitting wooden dwarves w/melons as bowling. normally the simple picture movement directions & text instructions worked & easy to understand (except above I had issues with), but that game I couldn't do more then a very weak throw. when I was back at the menu, I lost the pointer/IR totally. thinking a fluke, the next game which was more shooting & targeting did not work at all. I went to a game I played before flawlessly & that game suddenly didn't register. I restarted the wii 2x & it still would not work. I put in ghost squad a on rails shooter game & that worked flawlessly.
this game would be great for kids, it's amusing, but with the bugs, I suggest renting it.
