5 out of 5 stars Mario Super Sluggers   September 1, 2008
I rented this game to try it out a few days ago and it is totally awesome. To tell you the truth, I actually prefer the single player mode than the multiplayer mode. The single player mode is just pure fun. There are new players that are really cool too. Sure, the multiplayer is very fun too, it's just that I play tons a Wii every day, and I don't have much of a challenge. The only thing negative about this game is that it has no Wi-Fi. I thought that this game would do great with Wi-Fi just like Mario Kart. But, other than that, I would not waste anymore time without buying it. It is a great family game too. It is only a 2 player game, but it's also fun to watch people play it, so you could take turns playing each other. This is for sure a spectacular Wii game to add to your collection.

4 out of 5 stars Off and Slugging/Pitching and playing   August 31, 2008
I liked this game a lot. After doing the practice xercise, I was easily able to play the game and enjoy-not so with many other sports games. The main thing confusing was the use of the 'chucks.

5 out of 5 stars Really good sequel!   August 31, 2008
I really have enjoyed this sequel to a very fun baseball videogame. The wii-mote is fun to use, the toy field is better than ever, and the new chemistry elements are awesome! The best addition to this version is that four people can play exhibition mode, so everyone can play the baseball aspect of the game. A disappointment in this game is that there is no online, which is really weird considering all the other mario titles making a stride to the online world like Mario Kart Wii. I think it doesn't hurt the experience necessarily, but it would have been really nice. Anyway I highly recommend this title to any fan of arcade baseball and mario sports or anyone who wants to have a nice time!

4 out of 5 stars Son of a Pitch!   August 29, 2008
I bought this game thinking, "I like every other sporty Mario game, so why shouldn't I like this one?" I can gladly say I'm not disappointed with my purchase and that the game is quite fun and somewhat addicting!

When I first began with the practice sessions, I got frustrated with the confusion of swinging the remote instead of simply pressing the A button. After a bit of time, swinging became natural and the A-pressing habit was forgotten.

The characters are completely unexpected (joking, harhar.) Mario and his gang are back, also throwing in a few favorite from the Donkey Kong series. Each character has its strengths and weaknesses and can be connected with another character (when they share "chemistry") to perform Buddy Moves to increase jumping height or throw a ball faster.

The graphics are amazing. I enjoy the differences in gameplay at night time, as well as the change of scenery when the sun sets. Some baseball fields have obnoxious gimmicks placed in them, but those gimmicks could become an advantage depending if it's day or nighttime.

The sound effect of the game are basic. You everyday baseball sounds, favorite characters' voices, and anything else you'd expect from a Mario game. I hate hate HATE how they constantly change some characters' voices, as if us hardcore fans will not notice. Other than the minor annoyance of that, I think it's all good.

Controls are perfect. Pitching with the overhand motion, swinging the remote when at bat; it's all too perfect. When first starting the game, you're asked to do some practice rounds which teach you the basics on how to play. Everything is explained in an orderly fashion, but I sometimes found myself having a hard time understanding what the game was asking me to do (in Challenge Mode).

I have yet to do anything in Multiplayer mode...So I cannot write about that.

Overall, I feel this game is perfect for EVERY Mario or Wii fan out there. I deeply suggest investing in this game! You won't regret it! This was just a quick review, so I recommend reading others before basing your decisions off this one.

1 out of 5 stars VERY disappointing   August 27, 2008

I remember reading in a preview for this game that the controls would be similar to Wii Sports baseball; they are not. This is really just a Mario Superstar Baseball 2.0. There's a few new characters, a few new fields, and the graphics got a face lift, but its the same game. My biggest complaint is that the Wii-mote controls were really an afterthought, instead of what the game was built around (as it should have been!!!). Instead of swinging the remote to swing the bat with harder swings producing harder hits, you just flick the remote to simulate a button push. The pitching is the same; flick and twist the remote to simulate button pushes. There is no proportional control at all. Definetly not worth the money; I'd rather play the three inning/no depth Wii-Sports baseball game. Nintendo should be ashamed to have produced such a subpar game.
