Awesome! September 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my girlfriend. She and I have been playing each other for a while now, I think since Guitar Hero II came out, and this one just adds to the fun! We Can't Put It Down!
Just not as fun anymore September 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My main problem with the game is it is way too short and easy. Starting with Neversoft's Guitar Hero III, the series isn't as fun as it once was. There isn't much too say about this game since there really isn't anything new here. Basically, it's a Guitar Hero game based on Aerosmith and bands they were inspired by. The game is full price even though it only has half as many songs as GHIII had. Due to the game being too easy, it's also not nearly as fun. The only song I like playing on this game anymore is "Joe Perry Guitar Battle". I easily five starred every song on the Expert difficulty and I'm only semi-good. While this game is disappointing, it at least has a few advantages over GHIII. For example, the drummer isn't animated like a robot, no songs are over charted badly, you actually have to be precise with your hammer-ons and pull-offs again, and they don't advertise stuff that has nothing to do with music. While I am a fan of Aerosmith and I do think the track list was well made, I just don't like the whole one band idea. Maybe Guitar Hero: Metallica will change my mind, but I doubt it. The only reason you should buy this game is if you're a really big Aerosmith or Guitar Hero fan. Otherwise, just wait until the true sequel to GHIII, Guitar Hero World Tour.
Disappointing August 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I bought GH:Aerosmith, it was mostly because the offerings in GH2 and GH3 were starting to wear a little thin, and I was getting tired of playing the same tracks over and over again.
However, the game was an immediate disappointment. The song offerings are, by far, the weakest of any of the GH games. Even if you're a big Aerosmith fan (which I'm not), I can't imagine that this game would have any staying power. Even the add-on songs are very limited, and all just more Aerosmith offerings. No lesser-known bands, no introduction to new music you might not have heard otherwise... just more of the same tired old catalog. To make matters worse, not only are the song options limited and dull, but the songs themselves aren't that difficult to beat. By comparison, while I was able to beat all songs on GH2 on Hard, and struggle on Expert, and struggle with 1 or 2 hard songs on GH3, I beat every GH:A song on hard with no problem, with only 3 songs I didn't earn 5 stars on. It lost it's replay value so quickly that after beating hard, trying to beat Expert became more of a task of tedium than a goal I truly wanted to beat. I've ended up going back to GH3 and Rock Band, and played both more since buying GH:A than I've played GH:A. I really only see this game having lasting appeal to true die-hard Aerosmith fans (add 1 star if you are), and even then, I'm skeptical.
Good..but quick August 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As always...a great game. What more could you expect from Guitar Hero Series. They are always enjoyable...but with this one they seemed to rush it a bit. Seemed shorter than the others and maybe a bit more on the Easy Side. I beat the game quicker than I did GH3 and GH2. I know it's not my skill at the game getting better... I can still barely beat GH3 on Med. :P
$60 for this? Come on July 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Let me start off by saying that I'm a big fan of Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. I think they are a blast and a nice change from the controller.
I was upset at how short this game was compaired to Guitar Hero 3. There is only one battle against Joe Perry compaired to three battles in GH3. There is about 13 less songs as well. The game is just way too short and unsatisfying for $[...] Do yourself a favor and rent this one as you can beat all the songs in a matter of a few hours.
