Animal crossing August 23, 2010 Jane Wirth Animal crossing is a VERY good game, and surprisingly addictive. To figure out what you can do, read other reviews. But I won't keep you reading this too long. This is probably the best game Nintendo has ever come out with! But, when I first got it, around a few years ago, i was skeptical. I mean, how could a game with the name of animal crossings be fun? Well, i can tell you, this game is definitly worth the money that you pay for it by helping you have fun in a way that many other games don't let you. By letting you do things when you want to and letting you enjoy them. For me, there isnt much more to say than that.
great game for young children June 30, 2010 anony (dc) If your looking for a game that can keep your child's attention, then this is it. I bought it for my 7 y/o and she loves the role playing theme of the game, which is unlike the other games she owns. She loves that she can pick her character, buy new outfits, talk to other people, control where to go next. I've not played it, but it seems interesting enough for my daughter where she can't stop talking about it.
BEST GAME EVARRR!! April 13, 2010 A. Dyer (PA USA) Animal Crossing is so much fun to play, and I can spend hours fishing, running errands for my animal friends, organizing the town's trees and flowers, etc. It's not a traditional game in that there's a goal to save the princess at the end of the level, but there are fun little things to work toward, such as a bigger house, pics of the animals in your town, golden tools, and hybrid flowers. Any description you read of the game sounds like it's fluff for little girls, but I'm 22, and I know a few guys my age who love it as well (but won't be the first to admit it).
It's also the only game I know of that will make you play on its own time. For instance, K.K. Slyder is at the Roost every Saturday night from 8 pm - midnight. And there's Joan that comes to the town every Sunday to sell you turnips.
There's too much to explain everything, but this game really is super fun (for all ages), and if you do need help on anything, I've gone to [...] to figure a few things out, and there's also the Animal Crossing Guide Book, which I actually haven't read through but I'm sure is worth checking out.
Poor control April 7, 2010 Bigwig Y (CA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have played this game until my house was first upgraded but then got really tired of playing because its extremely poor controls. I tried to use the stylus only but it did not work well. D-pad and buttons gave me even more frustration because no matter how carefully I move my character, I could not get things done effectively.
For example, I could not pick items up easily. When I wanted to walk, I picked the designs I paved on the ground. i could not shake trees while holding a net or watering can.
The worst thing I experienced is that I could not effectively water my flowers. It was so difficult to position my character to pour water dead on the ground where the flowers were growing that the following day always several flowers were dying. Trees were blocking my view to water. Instead of watering flowers, I pluck them out and shove them in my pocket! It was too much maneuvering to just water flowers! Positioning and adjusting took so long and wore me out (think about watering more than 100 flowers every morning with this dull control!) It was so stressful that I could not go on any more.
In addition, it was a hustle to decorate my room. It was troublesome to move furniture. If I tried to rotate a piece of furniture, other furniture went into my pocket. When I wanted to put items in a dresser, the dresser itself went back into my pocket.
The weakness of the control ruined everything for me. If you are full aware of this shortcoming, you might be able to enjoy the game. If you get easily irritated, this game is not for you.
Love the wild world March 4, 2010 Zer0 First off, if you dont like the animal crossing formula you wont like it now so just leave. This is a VERY casual game, perfect for the DS since you never get too involved. I have played all three animal crossings but I think the set up for this one is better since its pick up and play, then disconnect when your finished. One serious flaw in this game though that marks a whole star off is the animals are not as "intelligent" as they are in the other versions. They say the same things alot sooner than before and hardly ever need your help. Often they just ask stupid things like replacing their phrases. Dont expect to be addicted to this playing it 24/7 but about 2 hours -3 hrs a day max and the game will be quite enjoyable.
