Product Description
In Break 'Em All, you'll enjoy a throwback to classic brick-busting games. Control a small platform at the bottom of the screen, and use it to bounce a small ball into a wall of multicolored blocks. Use your knowledge of angles and momentum to crack through each wall, and earn your freedom.

This game is pretty good overall. It's great if you're a Breakout fan. If you're not, it's just okay.

4 out of 5 stars Fun puzzle game   July 4, 2006

Break 'Em All is a supposed remake of an earlier Atari game, Breakout, but only the premise remains the same. You're a floating paddle and you use a small ball to destroy bricks. There are different types of bricks, and there is some strategy to the game. The problem with games such as Break 'Em All is they quickly get repetitive. I've only had the game for a few days, but I can see how destroying all the bricks, or destroying "bosses" can, in time, get old. On the other hand, I find the game strangely addictive, so my prediction may not be perfectly true.

I give the game 4 stars overall because there are inherent flaws in a game with rules such as Breakout. There are certain power-ups that can be had, and they range from useless to incredibly useful. The point of the game though never changes. You just need to destroy bricks (in the main mode). If the creators of the game would have expanded, even slightly, on that then the game might have been amazing. I'm being nitpicky though, and overall the game is fun. On a fun level, it fall somewhere between Tao: Curse of the Demon Seal (terrible game), and New Super Mario Bros. (great game).

3 out of 5 stars Break Down   June 23, 2006

There are often times where a classic can be revamped under a different named video game. Neverthless, that just doesn't mean that the knockoff is good as the original. That has been the case with Crash Bash for ther original Playstation, which was made as a knockoff from the Mario Party series from Nintendo. Well, throughout its top era, Atari had made some of the most revolutionary games of all times like Centipede, the original Pong, and Asteroids. Well, another Atari classic has been under a new video game knockoff again, and tis time it is bound to either please, or bouce those balls away from the bricks.

Break 'Em All which is a knockoff of the original Breakout from Atari for the Nintendo DS is a fairly exciting game for those who've missed out the original game from the 1970's. The gameplay of course is nothing new. The object of the game is for you to guide your paddle back and forth, using the Nintendo DS stylus as the controller, and keep your ball bouncing in play, and knocking out as many bricks as possible to clear the level. The graphics on the game isn't very new, but they are fairly decent. Where the control on the other hand, is mainly from the stylus which is simple to operate. The feeling of excitement here isn't over the top, but it does carry out fairly well.

All in all, Break 'Em All is a adequate knockoff to Breakout from Atari, and it is a good puzzle game for the Nintendo DS. Sadly, if you've played the classic Breakout, you probably might want to consider pasing this game up, and consider another Nintendo DS puzzle game like Magnetica, Tetris DS or Meteos. But, if you haven't played the earlier classic, then this game is worth a try.
