Good ventilation required October 4, 2008 I have this modem for about 2 years now. It started to develop a symptom that seems to relate to heat. If I lay down the machine, the bottom side will become hot and the machine will stop functioning.
Other then that there is no problem.
Works as described October 4, 2008 Not much to say other than it works as advertised with Comcast's cable service. Supports boost too.
Had to Return Product October 3, 2008 Although we were highly satisfied with the item in the first few days, it died within a week. We thought the source of the problem was our cable company, and we tried to troubleshoot with them for over a week. In the end, the problem was with the modem. All of the lights on the unit were lit, yet there was no signal being transmitted.
While we may have received the only faulty unit from the bunch, I have no other choice than to say I would not recommend this product.
Best Value on Amazon.com September 30, 2008 Bought this modem about 2 weeks ago for quality and value. Item was received in good order.
Great modem September 30, 2008 I replaced an older model surfboard that I had been paying to rent for some reason from the cable company. It certainly makes more sense to buy my own. Anyway, out of the box this was set up and ready to go in 15 minutes. The hardware was a piece of cake to setup and a quick call to the cable company to get my new MAC address set up was all it took. There is a CD ROM that explains everything if you need it, but it is all pretty self explanatory. The modem works great and speed testing reveals that I am receiving my full speed to my laptop even through a router. It's a good buy and certainly a lot cheaper than renting.
