Product Description
The epic story of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker continues as Link finds himself lost in a new adventure. Link and Tetra, the leader of a band of pirates, discover a ghost ship in dense fog. Link falls into the ocean when Tetra gets into trouble, and he wakes up alone on the shore of a mysterious island. Throughout the game, Link collects sand for his Phantom Hourglass, which allows him to explore deeper and deeper into a time-limited dungeon in his quest to find Tetra. Featuring intuitive touch-screen controls and innovative puzzles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass offers new challenges for fans of the series and an easy-to-grasp introduction for gamers new to The Legend of Zelda. The robust single-player adventure will have Zelda veterans and newcomers alike engrossed by the story as they move through the game with the stylus. A special two-player battle mode lets players connect locally or via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. One player controls Link as he tries to gather as many Force Gems as possible, while the other player manages the enemies who pursue Link. The replayability of these winner-take-all matches is virtually endless.

5 out of 5 stars Great game   December 3, 2008
II haven't played video games since I spent hours beating Zelda and the Ocarina of Time on N64... But this game pulled me right in! I bought a Nintendo DS on a whim (crazy black friday shopping...) and I haven't been able to put this game down since. It is challenging without being frustrating and the storyline is entertaining as well. I recommend it for (very) casual adult gamers!

4 out of 5 stars A few frustrations, but well worth playing   November 23, 2008
The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass is an excellent installment for the Nintendo DS that provides a huge game with lots to explore. Additionally, the special functions of the DS are well supported here. You will draw your own notes on a map, control Link through the touch screen, speak and blow into the microphone, and use the twin DS screens in many special ways as the game goes on. The sheer variety among the various bosses, the puzzles and quests, and the adventurous storyline make the game well worth playing.

The story is a follow-up to the Game Cube's Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Your friend Tetra is captured by a Ghost Ship, and you must save her. It's a simple plot, but one that will take quite some doing. The characters you meet are varied and interesting, from the crazy pirate-woman Jolene to the scoundrel Linebeck, who will provide you with a ship to travel the seas. In addition to the main quest, there are many diversions, including treasure hunting, ship customization, and several special islands to explore.

The game only really suffers in two regards. First of all, while most of the puzzles have some hint to help you solve them, several do not. You'll have to go through the game using trial and error for several parts of the game, which becomes frustrating. Much more frustrating, however, is that the game's central dungeon consists of more than a dozen levels, many of which you'll have to repeat again and again. When you're running through the same maze you've just been through six times already, it gets frustrating.

Despite a few frustrations, The Phantom Hourglass is an excellent game that provides hours of fun. It is one of the most complete DS games on the market, making full use of all the system's diverse capabilities. More than that, it is a very fun game that serves as another terrific installment to the classic Legend of Zelda series.

4 out of 5 stars Sweet   November 21, 2008
This game is definitely really fun. You get to be a pirate, find buried treasure and explore four different seas. There are hidden islands and small side quests as well as a few mini games. Of course, there are many dungeons to explore and a girl (Tetra) to save. You also have to save the Ocean king and restore peace to the sea.

Pros:
-The dungeons are really fun and not too long or too hard
-The graphics are cute and cartoon-ish
-The story line is good and the ending had a neat little twist.
-You get to customize your boat.
-Link has lot of fun gadgets to do things with like: Boomerang, bombs, grappling hook, hammer, bow and arrow and more.
-There are many towns to explore.
-A fortune teller will tell you what you need to do next if you get lost or confused.
-Link is controlled with the stylus, which at first, I thought was a bad idea, but then I got used to it and it's actually fun, and he goes where you want him to go and everything

Cons:
-When you equip an item, like a bomb for example, the game doesn't pause. I remember other Zelda games would pause so you could equip things w/o getting beating up by bad guys at the same time. Now you have to be quick with equipping.
-Though there are side quests, there aren't as many as in the old Zelda games. I remember the "heart container" side quests in all the others, but this one doesn't seem to have many, though treasure hunting does make up for that.
-There are no fairies that give you life :( ... what happened to fairy caves or keeping a fairy in a jar to re-fill life later?
- Also, I wish after you beat the game you could save and explore some more and find treasure.

These cons aren't a big deal, though. The game is still fun even with these minor cons. I definitely recommend this game to everyone.

4 out of 5 stars Challenging   October 16, 2008
This game challenged my very logic and strategy skills to their limit and it was a pleasure to play.

5 out of 5 stars 100% Recomended   September 30, 2008
This game is so fun. When I first bought it, I wasn't sure how much fun it would be, until I started playing it. It has a gret storyline, controls are easy, and there is so much added stuff to keep you occupied. The puzzles are fun, too.
