Fun for about an hour. August 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I won the first 3 games I played. It took about an hour and I havn't used it since.
I'm smarter... nah, I'm NOT smarter than a 5th grader July 11, 2008 Jeff Foxworthy as the host makes the show a lot better since throwing in some humor when tension builds is a good thing in my book. This is probably my favorite show on the air right now. I've always had a belief that the questions they're asking are actually more like 8th grade, instead of 5th grade. Some of them seem a bit tougher than they should be.
Anyway, the game is really good, and just like the TV show. You'll find challenging questions all over the place, and you'll be smacking yourself and calling yourself dumb for missing some of the most obvious ones, I can guarantee that.
Pick it up today.
I am not smarter than a 5th grader!!!!! July 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this game. Can't put it down. I love trivia and challenging my mind. You'll love it too!
Fantastic Game - Just like the show! June 19, 2008 I've been wanting this game for months and I just got it yesterday and played it for hours last night. It is a fantastic game! It has all the great features of the show, including the theme song, the host, the cheats, and it even tells you the correct answers when you guess it wrong!
I found the questions to be challenging and I have yet to win a million dollars, but the questions are great and I love learning new things. The only problem I came across was the question "Which planet is closest to the sun." I answered Mercury and so did the 5th grader I was playing with, but the game said it was wrong, that the closest planet to the sun was Venus. Even the dictionary said it was Mercury! So I don't know what's up with that, but all the other answers to the questions seem accurate, though I admit that I don't know them all.
Overall, they did a fantastic job on this game. The only recommendation I would make to the makers would be to allow the player to "create" the classmates, like on other games where you can create your avatar (i.e. pick the looks, clothing, etc). I think that would be a fun addition. Other than that, I would recommend this game to everyone who loves the show, to everyone who loves to learn, and to everyone who likes taking quizzes/tests.
Fun, But Don't Expect "Jeopardy" May 26, 2008 This is the only DS information quiz-style game out there so I gave it 4 stars for that. Also, it seems intended for bright kids more than adults so I'm not penalizing it for the lack of adult-level challenge.
I miss one or two questions per game, so it's not THAT easy. On the other hand, the questions I don't miss ARE pretty easy, especially given that (all but the final) are multiple choice.
I got it to (1) see how much general information I remember and (2) fight the aging process (memory!) a bit. The easiness of it makes it relaxing to do, but I hope they plan something harder in the future (how about "Are You As Smart as a NINTH Grader"?) As DS moves more and more into the adult-learner market, I think that will happen.
