Great game. Lots of fun. October 12, 2008 This game implements many smart and effective mmo ideas in a way that is not overly processor intensive. The adaptation of the Warhammer universe is very well done and characters are highly customizable, allowing for lots of repeat play.
This game really shines in the Player versus Player (RvR) department, with interesting battle grounds and really fun siege weapons that ensure even lower level players can prove effective and helpful to the team. The RvR system is designed in such a way that it prevents twinking and keeps that aspect of gameplay rewarding by providing ample gold and xp for player kills.
Ultimately, this is a well designed game. It's only real flaws are long load times between zones and graphics that could be better.
Pre-order MESS October 11, 2008 Game's great but non of my pre-order codes worked even the new ones that were sent to preload on fileplanet. I had to wait untill the product arrived, which defeated most of the reason to pre-order. Overall very poorly organized. The phone help at Amazon were great but it took the other department days to get the other string of wrong code for fileplanet to me, I just gave up. Does it sour me on Amazon absolutely not. I think this will be a lesson learned, this company is smart, I am confident that will never happen again.
Can't create an account October 11, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The game wouldn't accept my authentication code , so after an hour on the phone (at my expense) the customer service rep told me to try again tomorrow!
I should have known better than to buy a game by EA . We had blackballed them for awhile after they dumped 'Earth and Beyond' ( the best space game for the time)
This isnt starting off too well if I cant even log on to play
Very disappointing October 10, 2008 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews on Amazon for Warhammer Online. I believed 'em, bought the game, and couldn't last more than two days (of intense playing - I got a good 16 hours /played in).
Let's look at the main "pros" that others have mentioned:
Balanced PVP Public Quests
PVP is "balanced" only because there are only 5 classes when it comes down to it - tank, DPS melee, ranged melee, ranged caster, and healer. They don't vary enough between race - for example there are differences between the Shaman and the Runepriest but I felt as though I was playing the same character - in PVP you just click the same buttons over and over but the graphic/animation is different...you get used to seeing the same animation over and over very quickly. People talk about strategy - yes the strategy is to conquer the areas and stay together as a group. That's it, stay together as a group - thats the extent of the strategy. This might as well be WoW. Well...that was entertaining for the first hour or so, I guess?
Public quests are interesting until you realize you have to do the same one over and over and it takes eons to form a group. I couldn't believe how lonely I felt in the game. You'll see in some other reviews - in general people don't talk in game. I might as well be playing by myself - in fact I will be because this game is going back into the bookshelf.
Overall this was a very disappointing experience. I stopped playing WoW because the PVP was frustrating and unbalanced....in my opinion Warhammer Online does NOT live up to being the alternative most people are looking for.
Awesome game. Better than WoW. October 9, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is the next WoW ( World of Warcraft ) if you liked playing WoW you will love this.
