Product Description Lumines II is the sequel to popular puzzle-action game. Gamers control squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field one at a time to form same-color squares. The vertical "timeline" sweeps across the playing field from left to right and wipes the same-color squares from the playing field. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets to the top of the playing screen. Advance through many action-packed levels, each with its own musical theme and sound effects. Numerous new skins

Fun but not a blast May 14, 2008 This game takes a bit of time getting used to, but it can be quite fun. I am a fan of Tetris, but since it's not available on PSP, Lumines was the closest thing to it. I don't like the music the game tries to tout, but no big deal....
I commute to work by train everyday, an hour each way, and this game is a good time-killer.
Pretty Fun and passes time but no tetris May 2, 2008 This game is pretty fun... and I find myself playing it during lunch breaks and trying to get better at it. The better I get the more fun it is. But the more I play it the more I miss tetris and feel like something is missing in this game.
Great graphics and cool music effects though
Fun, but repetitive March 29, 2008 First off the graphics are pretty good, above average and it's pretty flashy. Different tracks for each level and will waste your minutes like no other task. A simple level took 10-15 mins and it felt only like 2 or 3 so it's perfect for those minutes you want to waste away. Rarely any lag and loading time is nothing. I have yet to beat the game since it obviously becomes harder and harder. Plus I'm not much of a puzzle person anyways, but picked this up for around 4 bucks on some sale at Toys R Us. I thought they stashed in it in that pile on accident, but whatever, I got it instead of version 1. It's repetitive for sure and thus the 1 star off. It gets a tad bit annoying, but if you know how puzzles are, then it should be no problem. Great game at a mere $20 and will literally give you HOURS of fun and fire up your brain like no other game.
Not my cup of tea March 9, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I like puzzle games. I've liked a lot of them. Tetris...Dr. Mario... and most recently Puzzle Quest..just to name a few.
I never tried Lumines 1, since I just recently got a PSP. So I picked up part 2 seeing that it's getting good reviews and part 1 is in most of the 'gotta have this for the psp' listmanias. I received my copy of part 2 a few days ago and played it for about 45 minutes. I just wasnt getting into it. I tried the challenge mode, puzzle mode, and also mission mode. All are 'fun' I'm assuming if you are into this game.
I love Tetris and think I'm really good at (or at least I used to be). This game seems a lot like tetris with the exception of everything coming down in a four square bock with 2 different colors usually. You have to create cubes of 4 squares which can be added on to by 2 other same colored squares to create a 6 block square..then 8...then 10...it can keep going up until the time line (which is pretty quick) flys by it erasing the completed blocks. As you progress, the colors of the cubes will change during play..as well as the music and backgrounds...which I'm guessing is there to try to confuse you or maybe just change up the look of things.
I didnt find this fun...at all. I was really bored.
Since I really didnt care for the game, I'll list some reasons why I do think the game is decent for fans of it. The Puzzle mode seems pretty challenging which is always a good thing...if you care for the game. Mission mode was probably my favorite mode. I like puzzles where they want you to do something in a certain amount of trys, and this is what mission mode basically is. You cant mess up one time or you lose. The graphics are bright in this game also. Very colorful.
If you arent interested in or only mildly interested in puzzlers, I wouldnt recommend getting this. I think this game might be only for diehard fans of puzzlers, cause it was pretty boring.
Great Game- Really bad music March 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game is great and worth getting but the music (all of it)sucks. One track in particular- Stroll Around the World is pure garbage and annoying as hell. It's on one of the earlier levels so it must be endured every single time you play. I have not played the first Lumines but if it has the same gameplay and better music you should probably get that one instead.
