3 out of 5 stars Disappointing and Slow   May 16, 2008
I enjoyed the first two paper mario games very much as a role playing game. This one is completely different and tries...I said tries...to be an updated version of Super Mario Brothers with role playing aspects. It doesn't feel anything like the first two games in the series. The story and dialog are slow and boring. The puzzles are decent and some clever. The 2D/3D switching is interesting to an extent. It had some entertainment value (therefore the 3 star rating), but I wish I had rented it rather than gotten my own copy. I would not recommend this title if you are expecting a Paper Mario type game for the Wii. If you haven't played those two games, you are more likely to enjoy this as long as slow story/dialog don't bother you.

1 out of 5 stars Paper mario??? DIE MARIO DIE!!!!   May 13, 2008

Anyone with a Wii has to be sick of every game on the console being a Mario, Wario, paper mario, playdouch mario, toilet paper mario or mario party. My god!!!! Why buy a system to play only predictable, rehashed, mario games for 10 years ago.

4 out of 5 stars Fun Game   May 3, 2008
Although I only played the first couple of minutes of this game, it is pretty fun. I've played Paper Mario on the 64, but this game looks awsome.

5 out of 5 stars Definately a winner   April 27, 2008
I purchased this game after going through so many games that seemed to be nothing more than a flop for me. And I am pleasantly surprised! The graphics are amazing, the storyline is interesting and the concept is easy to understand. Even my 5 year old is enjoying it. There are a few points where he needs assistance, but other than that he's enjoying it just as much as I am. Even my husband finds himself "backseat driving" from the couch!
It's the classic Mario; a blast from the past. He jumps up and bashes boxes, hops on turtles, and catches flying coins. But there is a little twist in this game that makes it even better than the origional. He can flip between 2D and 3D, making your perspective look different. Thus showing you secret passways and revealing tunnels to get you through when you really thought all hope was lost. But make sure your not in the 3D for too long, or you will loose life. (Approx any longer than 30 seconds)
I would hands down reccomend this game to anyone looking for something fun and out of the ordinary "shoot 'em up" games. Excellant for children (in my opinion ages 5 and up) and adults as well.
Have fun!

2 out of 5 stars Not for smaller kids!   April 8, 2008
Okay, I admit that I personally am not video game savvy, so maybe there is some prejudice here. But my 7-year old grandson plays video games all the time, so I think I can speak for him.

From what we could tell from the time we loaded this game is that there is a lot of reading required. And I don't mean short instructional type info. They want you to get the whole story and the whole background of whatever is happening but it is wa-a-ay too indepth and complicated to keep the interest of a 7-year old, not to mention the vocabulary (including character names) are often well beyond that of a child.

Luckily, I only paid 19.99 for this game as an Amazon special. I am hoping I can sell it to someone and at least get back some of this cost. In the future, I will be sure and read the reviews before I take the (E)rating as meaning that it is kid-friendly.
