5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER version of the gameboy....this one is a keeper   June 7, 2007

Nintendo has had a lot of success with the Gameboy product, which is the simple logic behind yet another version of the GameBoy Advance. This one is the GBA Micro, and the major selling point is small size of the system. This thing is just tiny, like a cell phone. The screen resolution is near-perfect, with lots of clarity and sharp colors. The design is simple, with just the basic funtion buttons as well as a headphone jack showing up on this gameboy.

In my opinion, the coolest thing about the micro is the fact that you can sneak this one into pretty much any situation. So it gets a 10 on the stealth meter. I saw a third-party case for the micro, and it looked just like your typical cell phone case. When you combine the size with the super-long battery life and lots of fun games, you have a winner with the GBA Micro.

3 out of 5 stars NOTHING compared to the SP   May 22, 2007

The first Gameboy Advance model, back in 2001 was a fun new product with a nice big screen but a lot of bulk. Then along came a much needed update to the system, with the Gameboy Advance SP, which gave it a new flip design, rechargable battery, slimmer and lighter shell, and most importantly, a backlight. This was the all-around perfect system and dominated the handheld market untill the DS was released. Around the same time as the DS, the Micro was released as well. This new design puts the gameboy back in wide form, like the origional, but basically, it is just a very small gameboy advance with a very small screen. If you really need the gameboy to be smaller, then this might be worth checking out.

PROS-
+ screen is bright, not too small so that you cannot read on-screen text
+ so small you wont be able to feel it in your pocket
+ sleek, sexy design

CONS-
- Screen is small compared to other GBA models, can cause eye strain, some games are made harder because of this
- Battery life is not so good
- L and R shoulder buttons are unresponsive and you must hit them in a specific spot for recognition
-Sound is weak
- Scratches easily and is a fingerprint magnet
- You can only play GBA games, no color or origional GB games like the older models did.

In conclusion, no one should buy this over the SP. the SP is better in every way except for size, but the SP was pretty small to begin with when folded. The only reason to buy this would be if you really need a smaller handheld, but otherwise, stick to the SP.

2 out of 5 stars Get a Gameboy Color instead!   April 24, 2007
1 out of 6 found this review helpful

Just get the Gameboy Color instead of the Micro. I have owned the Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, and now a DS lite. Out of all of the Gameboys I have, the Gameboy Color is definitely one of the best. So what if the graphics aren't very good, graphics aren't everything. It's game quality that really matters. The Gameboy Color is ALLOT less money than a Micro. It is only $9.99 used at Gamestop, and the Gameboy Micro is 69.99 new. Since it is older than the SP and Micro, there is a way bigger game library to choose from. My advice is to get the Gameboy Color.

3 out of 5 stars screen too small   December 19, 2006

screen is VERY bright and crisp, just too small for me. i find myself putting it close to my face to see it and i just got a football game and i cant see the plays. im giving it to a 14yo boy for x-mas to replace his game boy advance(not sp). im sure he wont mind killing his eyes on that thing.im sure when i was that age i wouldn't mind. besides the screen being too small its ok, just got my new onyx colored advance sp today tho and have to say i like it better. very slick the way it folds and bigger screen, wish it were fully backlit like the micro but still better to me
