5 out of 5 stars fire emblem review   October 28, 2008
This is a good game. It's like chess, but a bit simpler and more interesting. Unfortunately the copy I bought was faulty, could not save game. Seller was very good about refunding purchase price and shipping charges so A+ there.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome series glad it made it over to the US   August 31, 2008
Great game, if you like strategy if you don't, then this probably isnt for you.

5 out of 5 stars Fire Emblem 7: Review   August 8, 2008
Nintendo is known for it's trademark series such as the Mario, Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Starfox, Metroid and other series. Fire Emblem has been with Nintendo for a while, but only in Japan. Only since the release of Super Smash Brothers Melee have fans been introduced to Fire Emblem characters. Now, with the attention Fire Emblem recieves in the United States, Nintendo has put handheld gamers in the loop by releasing the 7th installment of the series for Japan and the US. Fire Emblem 7 is actually a prequel to Fire Emblem 6 (which was released in Japan and featured the Super Smash Brothers Character, Roy). Fire Emblem 7 is a military tactics game where you command your select army on mission such as defeating a general or surviving days on onslaught. Each character that you command assumes a role, such as fighters, warriors, monks, mages, clerics and other types of classes. The graphics and animation for each character are done very well. The music is superb (some of which has been remixed in the Wii game Super Smash Brothers Brawl). The plot will have you going from start to finish and with the difficulty high, you will be busy with this game for a while. It is a Nintendo classic series and this installment lives up to the expectation of the series.

4 out of 5 stars Caught by surprise.   August 2, 2008
I'm not done with it yet, but the storyline is really catchy and interesting.I like it. However, I didn't know that this was more of a strategy game than role-playing, so that part caught me off guard. If you like strategy games, then this is for you. If you aren't so big on them, but you still like some adventure, you might like this. If you hate strategy games, then steer clear of this.

5 out of 5 stars Still great in 2008   April 14, 2008
I got a DS and since it's compatible with GBA games I decided to play some of the best rated GBA games on it too. I played Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (Similar game but more war based rather than rpg) and enjoyed it.

Fire Emblem was released in 2003 so I expected the graphics to be a bit dated, but they aren't that bad for a small screen. Overall, the gameplay and story was excellent. Lot's of characters, lots of plot twists, and enough strategy. I loved that if you 'lost' a character in battle that you no longer got to use them. There are optional side quests/plots, which I skipped the first time around. I definitely enjoyed this game enough to play it again to catch more of the plot details and play the side quests. It's that good. I also got the second installment for the GBA and the 3rd for the Game Cube. After I finish those, I definitely plan on playing the newest one on the Wii.

I also liked that the chapters/missions were not so hard that you had to play them over and over to finish and move onto the next part of the game/story. At times it seemed easy, and it would have been nice to be able to turn the difficulty up...but at the same time it wasn't so easy that it wasn't fun.

Anyhow, I would strongly recommend this game if you like Advance Wars, Final Fantasy, Jeanne D'arc on the PSP, and others that are similar in style).

-- Added later: Upon finishing this game, you find that more is unlocked. For example, you can go through parts with other lead characters to get more insight from their perspective. Going through to unlock other characters...etc...this game has more replay value than I originally thought and I thought it had good replay value to start with.
