Not worth the hype July 7, 2008 This games has great graphics but I felt like I was doing the same things over and over again. The storyline of this game sucks, it is not creative at all and to me it seems the makers were mostly interested in the graphics and cars, not the game itself. I regret buying this game, I was expecting it to exceed San Andreas but it failed miserably.
It is what it is! July 5, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The best way to sum up this game is "it is what it is." That may sound rather short and empty, but to me if you've played GTA games before then nothing here is going to surprise you. The main character goes around stealing cars and "working" for crime bosses in different parts of the city just as in all three previous versions. The differences are limited, and that's a fact whether you want to believe it or not. The graphics are better, they offer some different weapons and cheat codes, and there is a decent multiplayer aspect. However, at the end of about 10 hours playing it, you'll definetly get the feeling you've "played this before". I'm not saying its a bad game, it is a solid installment of GTA series, but don't buy it expecting it to be anything more than that. Enjoy.
Pretty fun, but is it getting old? July 5, 2008 I am having fun with this game, but I am also thinking, "Hmm, I've done this before". Having said that, I can still recommend the title, because the old stuff was fun, and it still is. Everything is there, although I am feeling as if there is a bit of the 'crazyness factor' missing that was apparent in the previous titles. I have yet to see an all out riot in then streets. But the freedom is still compelling. Want to create a traffic jam on a bridge? Done. Want to set the 1st car on fire and watch them blow up one-by-one? Done. Sweet. There is a lot to do and a lot of fun to be had, although you've been there before. Enjoy the nostalgia.
Eh... Its Not The Greatest... July 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the game I cant sit and play it for more than an hour without getting bored. The missions are a little boring, constantly calling people is annoying... I do like flying the helicopter in freemode and shoot people down. I am (ERICHOMER) so if you see me beware I am an airport hound... Also the graphics were jaggy and dotty, I have a 1080p tv I dont know what the game is running at but I wasnt impressed... Overall its a good game no doubt, but it falls short...
A great game with a few let downs July 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is by far one of the best GTA's out there, and certainly one of the best video games. The plot is incredible: it is so well written and engaging that it makes you want to finish the game, unlike other GTAs, just to know the ending. Gameplay is similar to the older games, although the shooting/targeting is better and the cars handle a little better. The attention to detail is astounding, to the point of having in game television shows and interent.
My only complaint is that some of the game elements feel tacked on because people wanted it, but the developers didn't care to apply the attention to detail found in other points of the game. Examples are the clothing stores and TV stations. There are only 4 stores in the entire game, and only one of them has glasses or hats. While this isn't a big deal, it's a pain when you go to change clothes and there are these two wasted categories that you have to skip over every time, since each one only has one or two items. The TV stations are full of satirical material, but its hard to change stations and is usually more frustrating than entertaining. The other thing is that there is a small number of safe houses across the city (4-5 depending on your mission choices) limiting the number of cars you can stash, but this is really minor.
Overall, it's a really fun game, but some parts of it just feel tacked on for missions in the story.
