Vice City, 1984. Opportunity abounds in a city emerging from the swamps, its growth fueled by the violent power struggle in a lucrative drugs trade. Construction is everywhere as a shining metropolis rises from foundations of crime and betrayal. As a soldier, Vic Vance has always protected his dysfunctional family, his country, himself. One bad decision later and that job is about to get much harder. Kicked out onto the streets of a city torn between glamour and gluttony, Vic is faced with a stark choice - build an empire or be crushed.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is the highly anticipated portable prequel to the PlayStation 2 blockbuster.

Impressive graphic overhaul
Vice City Stories is a monumental improvement upon the previous Grand Theft Auto title on the PlayStation Portable. For one, the draw distance has nearly doubled so that buildings and features can be seen across town. Character models and cars are as detailed as if they were on the PlayStation 2 and include all of the shine and transparency that looked so great in other Grand Theft Auto titles. Players can even choose the clothing that Vic will wear in Vice City. Overall, Rockstar has substantially increased all visual elements so that you don't need to make any graphical sacrifices when taking Grand Theft Auto on the road.

Even the city appears as never before- people on the street will notice you and recognize you for the actions you've taken on previous missions. Some even comment about actions you've taken and give you an idea about how the public feels about your notoriety.

Expanded gameplay
New characters never before seen in Vice City add new twists to the story gamers were introduced to in the PlayStation 2 Vice City title. With a playtime of over 15 hours for the storyline alone, there is certainly plenty to see and hear in and around the city. Choose from various objectives to complete such as doing stunts for a chocolate commercial, chasing a known drug dealer to swipe his loot, and patrolling your neighborhood for specific thugs. Knock down objectives and get swept up in the plot or sit back and explore the big city- the choice is yours!

The hallmark style of "sandbox" gameplay is ever present and players can (forcefully) take control of nearly any vehicle they see and roam the streets in search of interesting characters and opportunities. In addition to cars, busses, bikes, and trucks, you can now cruise the waterways of Vice City in a large number of water craft! Jet-skis, motorboats, and even fishing vessels are there for the taking whether you're tracking the bad guy or just killing time. If you need even more mobility, consider one of the many arial options such as helicopters- helpful for taking out enemies from afar.

Product Description
Having just made it back onto the streets of Liberty City after a long stretch in maximum security, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City by his old boss, Sonny Forelli. They were understandably nervous about his re-appearance in Liberty City, so a trip down south seemed like a good idea. But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. He's set up and is left with no money and no merchandise. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself.

4 out of 5 stars It's just amazing. period.   August 7, 2008
This product is amazing. the graphics are phonominal, the sound quality is fantastic, and the game play is amazing! this game may get a little frustrating at times, but once you beat the game, it gets better. it's just full of excitement, and joy. My friend's step brother, (he's 6) he loves the game! even though it's for Mature audiences, i think hes mature enough to know that killing is bad. come on. who will do it? well, i rated it 4 stars because it gets boring after a while. so i hope you get it, and have fun!

5 out of 5 stars Detail is amazing   August 1, 2008

Yes, the game is violent and mature theme, but it is also brilliant. Its detail is amazing and it's great entertainment. All the GTA games are amazing - my husband and older kids love them. And no, I don't worry, because they realize it's A GAME and they don't want to go out and beat up people and sell drugs or steal cars!! When you have a solid relationships with your kids, and you spend time with them and demonstrate the values you want to teach them, you can also enjoy entertainment that may not be well suited to folks who are not well adjusted. My point - it's a game, it's not reality, and it's fun.

4 out of 5 stars Return to Vice City!   June 8, 2008
This game is great to take along on a car or airplane trip, especially if you have already played Vice City on the PS2. It's fun to go back and visit the places you've been before. It's not a completely new game, so it's good for passing the time on long trips. Since the PS2 version did not let you rotate the camera with the right stick, it isn't missed in this version. The graphics are decent, and don't take away anything from the action. The soundtrack is pretty cool, and it sounds great if you have a pair of good ear-buds or headphones. At $20, it's also a good deal. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Grand Theft Auto:Vice City Stories.........   May 17, 2008
Maybe it's the new adventure set in Vice City with a new character. Maybe it's the fact that I can carry it around and play anytime, anywhere I want. Who knows? But, one thing I do know for sure is that I love Grand Theft Auto:Vice City Stories a heck of a sight more than Grand Theft Auto:Vice City for the PS2 Console. Course, this game takes place 2 years before that game does. It tells the story of Vic Vance. A soldier who makes one big mistake by trafficking drugs for his sergeant and is kicked to the curb by the service. It's then that he makes a tough choice. Build an empire of his own or be crushed by all the opposition that is into the drug trade. Guess which road he takes. Gary Busey, Danny Trejo, Phillip Michael Thomas, Phil Collins lead an all star cast providing voices for the game. Even DJ Luke is voiced by Luther R. Campbell, better known as Luke Skyywalker from rap group 2 Live Crew as well. Music by performers such as Egytian Lover, Run DMC, Whodini, The Jonzun Crew, Queensryche, Kiss, Dio, Dokken, Rick James, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, The Human League, The Thompson Twins, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, among others are featured.

The game itself is a huge improvement over Liberty City Stories. All the graphics in this game have alot more detail to them. The framerate is alot better. There's less pop-up than before. You can even see alot farther in the game now with no problems. Essentially, though, it's the same GTA that we've played time and time again but who's complaining? Certainly not me. I'm amazed with this pocket version of GTA. Why? Well, I was expecting it to be a dumbed down version of GTA,actually. I was also expecting the loading times to be absolutely horrendous(like the PSP Midnight Club 3). Lo and behold, I was quite surprised that neither was the case with this game. It's quite an achievement for the PSP, believe me.

It's a great game. I love it. I just wish we could talk Rockstar into making a Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas Stories now. That would be real sweet for us PSP owners.
