The Chipmunks may have been CGI-ized but the helium-distorted, super-high-pitched singing style of Alvin, Simon and Theodore has been preserved. If you have kids or are a kid at heart (with a special fondness for novelty tunes), this is a goldmine. The 'munk classic "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas, Don't Be Late)" is covered twice: the "DeeTown OG Mix" is a fairly faithful version, while the "DeeTown Rock Mix" goes the emo-lite route; another nugget, "Witch Doctor," also gets dusted up, with the addition of a so-so rap. Nice bonus: The 1958 versions of these two songs are included as well, for old times' sake. Newer tracks are just as zany. The CD starts off with a take on David Powter's hit "Bad Day," which sounds completely insane done Chipmunk-style; "Funky Town" is downright hair-rising. The DeeTown Syndicate not only produced it all but also contributes several songs of its own that waffle between corny hip-hop ("How We Roll") and contempo Disney Channel style ("Coast 2 Coast"). I liked the version of Bad Day and Funkytown that was in the movie. In the movie there was no background music and it was very original and worked well. on the soundtrack it was basically the original version of the song with the chipmunk voices. I docked 2 stars for that, otherwise Fairly descent.

A must have for any lover of singing chipmunks. This CD should be guaranteed to elevate your mood and put a smile on your face. A modern take on the chipmunk antics of old.
Fun CD September 4, 2008
I bought this as a gift for my husband's 12 year old sister. My 12 year old sister already had the soundtrack and loves it, as does my 19 year old sister. I enjoy listening too when I'm with them.

My daughers love this soundtrack and ask to hear it all the time. They dance all over the place. Newer versions are more hip and up to today's standards so makes fun for everyone to listen. Great buy!
 A Classic Made New August 7, 2008
This is a great new twist on an old favorite! This CD includes the classic Christmas song we've all come to love, but also includes modern day hits that the chipmunks spice up in their own original way! It's great fun and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a good laugh after a hard day-as "Bad Day" is the first song featured on the CD and with those little chipmunk voices it can't help but bring a smile to your face!
