Product Description Try your hand at the newest puzzle game to hit the Nintendo DS with NEVES. Published by Yukes, NEVES captures all the fun and mind-bending challenges of the classic Japanese game Hanayama's Lucky Puzzle and places it on the quirky and revolutionary Nintendo DS. Focusing on the cognizant gameplay of the mature puzzle audience, each puzzle in NEVES features seven wood blocks that must be aligned to match a corresponding silhouette. Shapes can range from simple items like a key or chair to more complicated objects such as birds and airplanes. And with the innovative controls of the Nintendo DS it's as easy as ever to position your pieces, but solving some of the puzzles is anything but! ESRB Rated E for Everyone

It was great for awhile July 22, 2008 It was challenging in the beginning. Most people I handed it over to couldn't figure it out. You have to think very spatially. After awhile you learn that some of the shapes can only fit in certain places and that helps. I think people will either find it too tedious or eventually too repetitious. But if you are looking for a good puzzle game then it is great for short bursts.
Great "Eureka!" game, and I finally "got" the title.... July 18, 2008
It's amazing that this game has so many puzzles that use the same seven pieces. Even though one piece is a pretty big honker and you can usually figure out where it goes pretty quick, it's trying to fit the remaining pieces that's so much maddening fun.
A couple times you may even think to yourself that a particular puzzle is impossible to solve with those seven pieces, but then when the solution finally dawns on you, you'll have an "Eureka!" moment that makes the game well worth playing and well worth the price.
Just watch the video and you'll know if it's your type of game - but you probably won't find this one locally and the publisher is obscure, so you may want to grab it while it's available...
Plus, if you've been wondering where they got the name "NEVES" from, it should become clear after reading the manual (that's when you'll probably have a "D'oh" moment).
Minus one star overall for the music - like another review said, you'll soon turn it off.
Puzzles July 12, 2008 I like puzzles and strategy games, so this was perfect for me. There are three different modes, the first you have unlimited time and moves to figure out where the pieces go, the second you have 3 minutes to figure it out, and the third you have to move the piece where you think it should go and then you can't touch it again. If you are wrong you have to start over again.
Its pretty entertaining and hard to put down. I played it until I beat it, for a week straight.
Easy but pleasing June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this thinking it would probably either be not challenging enough or would be frustrating -- i.e. puzzles too hard to be fun or that would be timed so that I'd have to keep trying the same puzzle over & over again until I beat a time-clock.
While there is an optional time-challenge mode, this is actually a nice litle leisurely puzzle game. I'm a 40-something who is used to 'doing' something on the evenings my spouse & I watch TV -- I'm usually paying bills or catching up on family emails or whatever -- and this little game gives me something to do with my brain when I don't have other pressing things to handle during TV-time.
I'm about half-way thru Level 2, and it's still pretty easy, but occasionally you do get a head-scratcher and have been pleasantly surprised at how this game makes you approach a problem in different ways.
Knowing about it as I now do, I would definitely have still made the purchase.
I hate this game and also LOVE it!!!! June 9, 2008 I like to think of myself as intelligent and logical. When I saw this game, I thought it would be a "piece of cake", but somewhat challenging. Well, I was so frustrated in the beginning that I wanted to throw this game away!! With perseverance, I stuck with it and actually solved some puzzles. As I went on, I thought that I had it all figured out. Along came the next set of puzzles. Don't think this game is easy but also, tell yourself you can do it. Keep trying and suddenly when you think all is lost, you'll rotate a piece or flip it, and, wow...the puzzle is solved! One night I went to bed and thought I would play awhile and when I decided to finally fall asleep I realized the sun was coming up!
