Greatt April 29, 2008 I really like the guitar, the wireless is great and the joystick works well when loading the game, also they have some pretty cool new songs :P
Read Here If You Have Trouble Loading On Your WII April 28, 2008 We received this the first time and the disc would not load on our WII. Sent it back and the same thing happened with the replacement from Amazon (they were great about the return and reship). After some internet research, it turns out you need to perform a software update by clicking on the spinning disc on your TV - it will then ask if you want to update and then the disc will work just fine. My kids love this game.
Needs GH3 add-ons like PS3 or xb360 April 28, 2008 I initially held off on buying the Wii version of Guitar Hero III as I read the graphics were terrible and the sound was in mono. Well it appears that the sound is fixed and the graphics are not that bad really. After playing it at a friend's house, I was hooked.
Now that I have it, I really love it. In fact, when I listen to the radio now, and here a classic rock song, I think about how I could be playing it on GH.
But therein lies the rub because, unlike the PS3 version, I cannot update the built-in songs on the Wii version. I understand there are storage issues on the Wii that are not a problem on, for example, the PS3.
Why not put in in the Wii store and the buyer must download to an SD card or something? Activision could nickel and dime the Wii buyers just as they do the other consoles.
Or perhaps Activision could still meet the needs of the Wii faithful, but producing a Greatest Hits expansion disc that one could purchase for $10-$20 USD that would contain most of the hottest selling songs available on the other consoles. I think this would be a great way to drum up additional sales and not leave money on the table regarding the Wii platform. If it had these features, I would have given GH3 five stars.
Great Party Game! April 24, 2008 I love this game! It's really fun to have your friends over and challenge them to beat your score on a song. The only thing is that all of us heard Slow Ride (the first easy song) in our sleep that night! Overall, this is a great game and you'll want to play all night. I'm not that good but I continue to pick up the guitar and try to get better. It's so addicting!
What I now know April 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I first played GHIII on the playstation 2 before purchasing the game for the wii. When I first started playing on the wii, I became very frustrated and annoyed. I thought the timing was screwed up. I went through and tried to calibrate the guitar, but nothing seemed to work. I was almost ready to give up on the game and declare it a loss, but while playing on easy, I realized that I was actually just strumming too hard. On the PS2 guitar, I could bang down pretty hard on the strum bar without issue, but I found that on the wii guitar, I was getting some kick back and it was registering a second strum. Consequently, I had trouble with the long notes and I couldn't keep a streak to save my life. It took a few hours of playing to re-train myself, but it was worth it and I now enjoy the game as much as ever.
Also, I have to tilt the guitar up a lot higher than on the PS2 in order to activate star power.
