Product Description With part 3 of the Half-Life saga in the horizon, this collection brings you from the start so you're ready to take on the third episode of this exciting trilogy. Half Life earns its popularity and reputation at being the first First Person Shooter game to use aq lifelike, realtime plot that pits you in the action as well as behind the trigger. Created by Valve Software, each episode employs advanced technologies for better, more realistic play. In Half-Life, you assume the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, a recently graduated theoretical physicist who must fight his way out of an underground research facility whose teleportation experimentations have gone awry. The second part of the trilogy of episodic expansions for Half-Life 2, Episode Two picks up where Episode One left off?with Gordon and Alyx traveling out of City 17 and into a vast new environment. The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people people he cares about are counting on him. Intense, real-time gameplay of Half-Life 2 is made possible only by Source, Valve's new proprietary engine technology

Fun and addictive July 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product almost a month ago, and I've admittedly only played TF2 and HL2 (haven't gotten around to Portal yet), but this was an excellent value. It does take time to set up the required steam account and download all the needed software to play, but it's well worth it.
The main reason I bought the product was to play TF2, and I would have paid the full price just for that game alone . . . an excellent online experience, truly a team game.
steam is an absolute piece of junk July 6, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well... I have to admit that HL2 is a good game, but steam is an absolute piece of junk. I mean steam literally spoils the whole fun of owning the game. If you have a firewall like zone alarm, steam can really be a pain. I played HL2 and then just gave up on episode 1 onwards. My computer has a quad core processor with a 8800 GTS card but Episode 1 crashes so frequently that I have just given up playing the game.
I have been gaming for quite a while and this is one of the worst game I have come across (frequent crashing + steam). What a waste of money.
About steam: It's a malware (you can also call it a spamware) program without which your games just wont run. If you are not connected to to the internet, you can expect all sorts of unexpected behaviors. It loves you show you a lot of junk that you have not asked for. Invest your money somewhere else.
Steam Sucks to no end July 3, 2008 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this game used on Amazon. Steam will not let me play it because it says it is registered to someone else. I tried all the recomended help settings with no answers to any of my e-mails. Thank The Lord for the nice woman who I bought it from giving me my money back plus shipping. I have bought my last game involving steam lic. Most of the reviews are done by Steam employees.
Perhaps the best deal you will ever see... June 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
5 games for half the cost of 1. HL2 is incredible for those who haven't played it - the best linear FPS I have ever played. Episode 1 and 2 pick up exactly where you leave off in both action and storyline. Portal is a mind-blowing puzzle game which toys with your tendencies and forces you to "think in portals". Add to that TF2 and you have an incredible deal. Buy it.
Perfect. June 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Orange Box is the ultimate gamer's dream. While a couple of the games included with the package are not very long, namely Episode One and Portal, you will still be provided with endless hours of fun with the included Team Fortress 2. The engine that the games run on, Source, is very versatile and allows you to lower the graphics enough to play it full-speed if your computer is not great. I was surprised at how great the graphics STILL looked even after I lowered everything to the minimum for my rather-old computer.
